Well, it seems as though George Bryce’s obscure yet comical job posting paid off.
As reported this week by Doug Ray and company over at DragBike Live from the Dealer Trade Show in Indianapolis, Bryce and his iconic Star Racing team have officially announced that they will be back in action this season for a full run at the 2012 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championship with a pair of new riders after several partial seasons in the series that Bryce and his riders once dominated.
Star Racing has teamed with the Hungarian Sovereign Racing Team, the 2011 European Pro Stock Motorcycle champions, for this new full-time racing venture. Last season, Bryce traveled throughout Europe with the Sovereign team as coach and crew chief during their championship run, paving the way for this interesting new international partnership. After that successful campaign teamed with Bryce, Sovereign team owner Jeno Rujp expressed interest in joining forces with Star Racing on the NHRA full Throttle Drag Racing Series.
The Sovereign namesake is derived from team owners Jeno Rujp’s large sugar distribution business based in Hungary.
With a plan in place, the new Sovereign-Star Racing team began its search for a pair of riders, and after weeks of looking, named John Hall and Scotty Pollacheck as the new team riders for the 2012 NHRA campaign. The duo have a combined 43 years of motorcycle racing experience on everything from street bikes to Pro Stock Motorcycles and even a world-famous electric motorcycle.
Make no mistake, the return of Star Racing and George Bryce to the Pro Stock Motorcycle wars is sure to shake things up in the new year.
