Swedish racer Andreas Arthursson has been a record-setter in the door slammer ranks with his familiar LSX-powered twin-turbo Monte Carlo, making headlines with the numbers posted by the GM-powered machine, but in 2014, his racing endeavors will reach to much greater heights when he and Team PNX, a three-company partnership, debut their brand spanking new 1969 Chevelle for FIA Pro Modified competition.
The new venture has been made possibly through the combined efforts of Arthursson’s Pure Performance Factory, Nilsen Performance, and X-Revolution, know collectively as Team PNX.
Chassis builder Mats Brag of Mats Brag Race Cars is constructing the sleek and aerodynamic Chevelle that will carry the colors of American turbo manufacturer Precision turbo, along with Leash Electronics, All -n Race Cars, Fogmaker, and Co-Line Heads.
Arthursson has foregone his production-based LSX power plants for this monster, opting for a 521-inch Hemi from Brad Anderson, sporting a Bryant crank, CP pistons, GRP rods, and a COMP cam, topped with Top Alcohol Funny Car-style billet aluminum heads from Co-Line, filled with Victory valves and PAC springs. A Waterman fuel pump will supply the lifeblood to the big Hemi. A pair of Precision’s 91mm Gen2 turbos will deliver boost in abundance, all of which will be controlled by one of Leash Electronics’ boost controller.
Like the powerplant, the drivetrain is all top-of-the-line, with a Rossler TH210 transmission with a Browell bell housing and a ProTorque converter transferring the 3,000-plus horsepower back to the Strange Engineering Ultra rear end with carbon brakes. All-In Races has also supplied an anti-roll bar for the project.
As you can see from the images, the construction is coming along nice;y under the watchful eye of Brag, and testing is expected to begin in the coming months in preparation for an official FIA debut.
