The dynamite Drag Radial duo of Kevin Fiscus and Josh Klugger have been on quite a roll of late with a pair of wins in their Proline-powered Ford Mustang, and much of that success is owed to a recent switch to a set of shocks from our friends at AFCO Racing.
The Fiscus-Klugger team, regarded as one of the preeminent favorites anywhere they show up, had shown great success on some of the better racing surfaces, but had been proven somewhat vulnerable when on a more challenging track where conditions were less than favorable. A few weeks ago, the pair bolted on a set of AFCO’s Big Gun Canister shocks built by Menscer Motorsports in an effort to turn their hot weather combination around.
“Our goal was to develop a shock package that allowed them to swing for the fence when conditions allowed yet navigate the more tricky tracks during the hot months of the racing season,” explained AFCO’s Eric Saffell.
Fiscus and Klugger rolled into the Bradenton Motorsports Park Heads-Up Madness event two weeks ago – a facility where they’ve struggled in the past – armed with their newfound shock package, and the results were put on display immediately.
Klugger, behind the wheel of the sharp twin-turbocharged Mustang, drove all the way to the Outlaw Drag Radial winners circle with consistent 4.50 elapsed times, hammered down with a 4.48 in the final to claim the title.
A week later, Kevin jumped behind the wheel of his machine at Maryland International Raceway’s Midnight Madness and qualified second with a 4.43. Kevin then used a pair of 4.4-second laps to move into the final, where he dropped a killer 4.342 at 178.76 on No. 1 qualifier Ricky Fox to earn the hardware.
With a pair of wins to their credit, the Fiscus-Klugger team rolls into the dog days of summer with exceptional momentum, and thanks to those new AFCO shocks the competition won’t get much relief from this formidable tag team.
