Turbos To The Front: DMC Racing Works Over Paul Major’s Corvette

Paul's Corvette undergoing major changes at DMC Racing Photos: DMC Racing

Paul Major is one of the guys in the Drag Radial class who’s not going to sit back and get left in the dust in the performance department. Keeping up with the class means always being willing to make changes to your combination and setup to keep up with the front runners. From his early days with small block LSX turbo combinations to his most recent big block twin turbo setup, Major’s Corvette has always had rear mount turbos, but that’s all about to change. Major has once again commissioned DMC Racing in Halifax, Massachusetts to get the Corvette ready for record-setting performances.

Check out the thread over on Yellowbullet for additional photos of the recent upgrades.

Paul Major Turbos To The Front surely got some attention when it hit the web courtesy of a DMC Racing update. Major’s rear mount turbos have always drawn a lot of attention as to why the set up was used over the conventional front mount. Now everyone will have to find something else to criticize Paul and his car over as the turbos are being moved up into the engine bay behind the front tires, with induction scoops facing upward through the front fenders — very similar to the setup found on Sal Patel’s record-setting Dodge Viper. Along with the turbo placement, a new J&E Performance 5″ bore space engine has been fitted into place which should ease the pain of tuning such a powerful engine. The 5″ bore space allows a bit more margin on tuning without running into detonation issues which ultimately will destroy an engine.

The Corvette Major team is scheduled to start testing later this week in preparation for the Shakedown Nationals this weekend in Englishtown, New Jersey. Will Major and his crew bring the title of the quickest and fastest Drag Radial car back to Team North with their newfound power? Stay tuned to find out!
