No injuries were reported in the aftermath of a scary incident that unfolded at U.S. 60 Dragway’s “Battle on the Asphalt” no-prep event over the weekend.
Mississippi racer Kerry Stribling was competing at the Hardingsburg, Kentucky 1/8-mile when he lost control of his supercharged big-tire Dodge Daytona on a single run. After a brief attempt to save the wayward race car, Stribling became but a passenger when the car hooked and turned over twice on its roof. In images circulating social media of the aftermath, it appears (but is not confirmed) the injector hat was damaged in the tumble, locking the butterflies partially open. That caused the car to remain under power, as it accelerated up and over the guardrail, entering the spectator area and striking a flatbed utility trailer before coming to rest.
Thankfully, Stribling was unhurt and a family that was seated on the trailer was able to quickly get out of harms way and were unhurt.
