As they say, everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes their automotive happenings. If you’ve never heard of the TX2K events (and if you’re strictly anti-imports and rarely browse car videos on YouTube, then you probably haven’t), the grass roots event began in 2000 as a Supra-only event and soon grew into a national car enthusiast event attracting hundreds of cars and thousands of attendees from all across the nation and other countries. Support remains strong from the Supra community, but the event has morphed outside of its original mission statement to include enthusiasts driving Porsches, Dodge Vipers, Corvettes, Lamborghinis, and other over-the-top performance cars.
This years running, TX2K12, included Time Attack contests, side-by-side dyno battles, and hardcore drag racing at the Lonestar Motorsports Park in Sealy, Tex.
The High Tech Corvette team was in the house at Lonestar and captured a ton of exciting drag racing action on film, including some of the more tense moments and edge-of-your -seat moments on the quarter mile. This included doors exiting stage left, sideways excursions through the shutdown area, guardrail kisses, and a Nissan GTR spinning more than 360 degrees without hitting anything in an act worthy of a perfect ten from the judges.
