EKanoo Racing, one of the premiere race teams in the Middle East, is known for its “spare no expense” approach to the sport of drag racing. With a stable chock full of the most modern cars available to take on a host of classes, each with its own salon-style stall in the expansive EKanoo Racing Headquarters in Bahrain, the team has enough firepower to compete, and win, at almost any level in the sport.
Ebrahim Kanoo, the “E” in EKanoo Racing, is the team’s owner and one of several drivers who blast down the 1/4 mile surface at the Bahrain International Circuit. He spends a great deal of time in the video, which runs just over an hour, talking about his team and their desire to not only win races, but to set records and break barriers. Though the title of the video would lead to the expectation that it is focused around their attempt to break the five-second barrier in their Outlaw 10.5 Supra, you’re actually treated to a very well-produced, in-depth look at the inner workings of the entire team and an intimate look at it’s collection of white-and-black rides.
Gary White, the driver of the Outlaw 10.5 Supra that finally did break into the hallowed five-second zone at the end of the Bahrain Drag Racing Club’s season, took a few moments away from his guilty pleasure – afternoon talk shows, of all things – to chat with us from his home in north Alabama.
“I’m very fortunate to get to work with the people that I do. It’s first class all the way and ranks up there with some things I could only dream of doing,” said White of his time with the EKanoo team. That’s pretty high praise from a man who’s raced the Baja 1000 and driven more than his fair share of pro-level drag cars.
White also delivered a dagger and a gift with a single sentence: “I’m not sure what the plan is for the future but Ebrahim has mentioned retiring the Supra. Also they have started on a new car to replace the Lexus that was destroyed [fast forward to the 18 minute mark in the video] a while back.”
It would be a shame, though certainly understandable, to see the Supra shelved, but it has reached far beyond its original goal of running 6.80’s and will go down in history as the first import to crack the 6.00 barrier.
Check out the rest of the video when you have time. It’s an excellent piece that somebody invested a lot of time and effort into, and is an excellent look at the inner workings of the EKanoo team!
