Video: Farmtruck & AZN Terrorize OKC With Their Wild “Airscream”

If Tuesday’s premiere of Farmtruck & AZN’s new “Street Outlaws” spinoff build series is any indication of what’s to come, then we’re all in for a treat.

If you didn’t catch the show, OKC’s dynamic duo, revered for their street racing antics and one-off creations, set out to construct a drivable camper, intended to catch onlookers by surprise, much in the same vein as the haunted hearse they built and drove on the show several seasons ago. With the fabrication support of Jeff Lutz and his son Jeffrey, the skin of a clapped-out camper was draped over an old, rusty 1977 Chevrolet van. A hitch and propane tanks were installed on the front bumper and a shiny new 400-inch small-block Chevy crate motor  was installed, and the final creation is practically a dead-ringer for the camper that it once was, save for the set of steering wheels tucked away under the skin.

The very inspiration for this build was a memory etched in Farmtruck’s mind of the time he witnessed a trailer breaking free from the truck towing it and wandering out of control into traffic. So once the work was complete, he and AZN reenacted the whole thing by frightening passers-by on the freeway in a scene that had us nearly drenching our computer screen in soda. They then proceeded to terrorize folks around town with the mysterious camper, hitting up drive-thru restaurants and even accepting a challenge from a Mercedes for a little race.

Farmtruck also took on “Dominator” at the Thunder Valley Raceway Park in what was billed to the competition as a “trailer race” — but the duo conveniently left out the fact that the race was not a truck and trailer combination, but a trailer with an engine in it. Dominator never had a chance. The “Airscream” ultimately clicked off a 1/4-mile run in the 13’s and trapped just shy of 100 mph.
