Video: Optima Batteries Brings Back Grubby’s Garage On YouTube

It’s rare to get an up-close-and-personal opportunity to chat with an NHRA Top Fuel driver, but the gang over at Optima Batteries is giving you that chance with popular Kalitta Motorsports pilot David Grubnic.

All you have to do is use the hashtag #AskGrubby on either Facebook or Twitter, and the Optima team will pick out the best racing-related tech questions and put Grubby on the spot to answer them. You’ll be able to follow along with the answers on the Optima Batteries YouTube channel.

Grubby previously performed his Grubby’s Garage features on the ESPN2 NHRA broadcasts and they proved popular enough for Optima to take on the challenge themselves.

Grubnic has finished in the Top Fuel Top Ten eleven times in his car, won three events, and appeared in the final round 17 times. With crew chief Connie Kalitta calling the shots on the Optima Dragster, Grubnic sits just outside the top ten this year in the number 11 spot behind Steve Torrence.

Optima’s batteries have a unique design that, unlike traditional lead-acid batteries, has an absorbent glass mat contained within the battery that is wound in a spiral shape, providing a virtually spill-proof, vibration-resistant battery that can be installed in just about any position without leaking.

Add in the quick charging capability and higher voltage characteristics during discharge and you’ll see why Optima batteries are found in many performance vehicles all over the world. They use 99.99% pure virgin lead to extend batter life and increase performance when you need it most.
