When the Grand Cherokee SRT8 was introduced in 2005, drag racing might not have been exactly what was envisioned by the designers. Considering that a bone stock SRT8 Cherokee brute weighs in at over four thousand pounds though, posting quarter-mile times in the mid 13-second range is fairly respectable.

But don’t tell this Jeep owner though that it’s not meant to be at the race track. Eric Kolls’ Cherokee is far from the norm, considering it lays claim to being the worlds’ quickest naturally aspirated SRT8, and might not be one you want to line up against at the drag strip. Putting down an estimated 650 rwhp, this SUV will pack the front wheels and put down mid 10-second passes all day long. Kolls’ fastest pass to date stopped the timers at 10.44 seconds at 124.16mph, with an impressive 1.36 60 foot. Claims are also made that the Jeeps’ best 60 foot, which is 1.358, is also a record.

Built by Lewis Performance Machine of Cocoa, Florida, this stout Jeep boasts a 440 cubic inch stroker under the hood. The original all-wheel-drive system has been converted to rear-wheel drive and this mammoth still tips the scales at over two tons. There are remarks that hint that the future of the Jeep may involve a hefty shot of nitrous and that there may also be a new transmission in the future for the SRT8 in the form of a Southern Hotrod (SHR) tranny. Other specific details of the SRT8s’ build are not known, but regardless, this insane Jeep is sure to impress. And if this beast gets a shot of juice in the future, one can imagine this Grand Cherokee will be even more entertaining to watch yet.
