West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Series Undergoes Changes For 2012

While most drag racing Ssries have already begun their seasons, the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association is just about to kick off their new year. The racers, fans and sponsors have to be positively amped up to get this season started when they hit the track for the first time this season at the Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City, Utah the last weekend in May.

Competitors in the series will be greeted with some new changes to the points and payout systems as compared to previous seasons. In 2012, the racers will now have a structured payout setup, and thus will know their expected payout prior to entering an event. A positive aspect of the WCOPMA is that the series pays down to the first round loser. The last three seasons, the amounts of the payouts varied, but now they’re set up in a structured format to relieve some anxiety from the racers.

There will no longer be bonus points for attending a higher number of races – although this was never a determining factor at the end of the season. As it stands now, the the top three drivers in the final points battle will now receive bonus points for their accomplishment.

This season, all those new record runs (ET and MPH) that are sure to be set will now require a one percent backup during qualifying or eliminations. For the record to qualify, it will need to be backed up at the same event, and racers who do so will now receive twenty bonus points for the new “official” record.

Big name sponsors like, Hoosier Tires (West), Redline Synthetic Oil, The Goodguys Rod and Custom Association, and the addition of the new racers, the West Coast Pro Mod Association is assured to have another exciting and successful year with its new payout and points structure.
