Jeff Bomyea is running Magnafuel TT5 this weekend with his street-driven 1968 Camaro. The car sees street duty on assorted weekends putting 300-500 miles on it attending unsanctioned speed contests around the Phoenix, Arizona area. The engine is a 548 big block Chevy built by Wildside Machine with a twin 76mm Precision turbos and a CSU blow-through carb on E85 controlled by Hyperactive boost controller. Jeff runs a Hughes Powerglide trans and converter. From left to right; Steven Bishop, Slim Jim, Steve Bullock and Jeff Bomyea. David Rogers is running Procharger Pro Radial this weekend and his first time on the radial tire after switching from the MT 33×10.5. He runs a PTP tuned big Chevy 540 on methanol fed by a pair of Precision 88’s built by Ken’s Custom Auto with a trans built by Tom Patterson. He entered Open Comp yesterday to get an extra pass and got into a wheelstand, bending up some things under the car. It’s repaired for eliminations where he qualified thirteenth and will fave Brandon McBride’s 1974 Nissan Skyline in round one. Dave owns Dragmart out of Winnipeg, Canada.The hard luck award this weekend goes to Rick Webb out of Phoenix, AZ. He ate a timing belt on his first run this weekend bending some valves and abruptly ending his weekend. The engine is a big block Chevy with a blow through set up based on Will Stevenson’s Florida-based Outlaw Drag Radial Camaro. He runs a 540 with an F3 ProCharger built by Wildside machine with chassis built in-house and a Hughes trans and converter.

larry Larson was one half of the first pair of Outlaw Pro Mod this morning and put an abrupt end to his quest for fives, laying down an amazing 5.950 at 244.43, making his S-10 the first street driven car to break the five second barrier. Number one qualifier Turky Al Zafiri was set to face Tommy Johanns in round one of Outlaw Pro Mod but wound up running a single after Johanns was pushed back. He put up another great run with a 5.591 at 268.54.Eric Dillard had a single in round one, running just a touch slower with a 5.592 at 266.Dale Pederson matched with Greg Seth-Hunter in round one of Precision Turbo Pro Mod, taking a loss to Hunter. Hunter hurt his engine and didn’t cross the scales to allow Pederson back in to face Mike Bowman, the former car owner.Rick Snavely took a win over Johnny West for the Turbos Direct Camaro.Eric Latino put his Camaro out in front of the Malicoat Brothers Cuda, taking the win and movign on to round two to face off with Michael Biehle II.Nick Agostino had an earned bye in Outlaw 10.5 as number one qualifier. He was off his qualifying pace, lifting at the top end.Rick Schmidt is here for first time on the 10.5W tire and struggled getting the car hooked up in the front half. He blanked at the tree taking a loss to Steve Nicholson’s nitrous assisted Corvette.Roger Holder is killing it this weekend in Pro Radial, putting up another 6.16 on his round one single.One of the most interesting cars here this weekend is this 1954 Bug of Kris Lauffer.He lost to Dana Cook this morning.
John Urist put up a 6.80 at 206 for a personal best ET in Pro Radial. The NMCA racer ran a 6.81 yesterday, also a personal best ET. The Hellion Racing crew is having a great weekend so far.Mike DeMayo put up another 8.02 this morning in his match with Stephen Porcho (far lane) who went .005 red.Number two qualifier Vic Brum took an upset loss after a poor reaction. Ryan Bell would advance with his slower 8.56 at 157 to Brum’s offpace 8.52 at 163.Richard Shelly (far lane) drove to a win over Michael Everhart in Vortech Outlaw 8.5.Traction was an issue for several racers in Outlaw 8.5 this morning. Number one qualifier Eric Aldrich took out Frank Yee with his Maverick, going on to face Derrol Hubbard n round two.Taylor Lastor was paired with Gary Glessen in Mickey Thompson Wild Street with Lastor spinning hard, hitting the high-side rev limiter and backfiring through the carb. He got back on the throttle, scoring a trip to round two.Artis Houston put up a 5.01 at 145 in first round of Wild Street, getting the win over Jason Mclean’s 1989 Mustang, which kicked the tires at the hit.David Hildebrand got the round win over Jeff Bomyea in round one of Magnafuel XDR with his stunningly beautiful ’65 Corvette.

Due to the cold weather and track temps the race has been postponed until Monday morning for safety reasons.
Turky Al Zafiri met with John Stanley in round three of EFIStore.com Outlaw Pro Mod with Stanley gaining a massive holeshot before losing a motor on the top end, allowing Zafiri to get by with a 5.567 at 270 to Stanley’s 5.69 at 216.Mike Murillo faced Tony Cafaro’s 65 Corvette in round three of Outlaw 10.5, putting up a 7.20 at 186 for the win. Sadly, Cafaro got loose and out of the groove to the left and brushed the wall twice. He did do a fine job of keeping the car out of Murillo’s lane in what could have been a much worse incident.Tony is okay and the car suffered mostly cosmetic damage.

Rick Snavely had a single after Shane Molinari started leaking oil after his burnout. Snavely went down the track with a 5.86 at 255 and will face Paul Glandon in the semi finals. Enrique Soto took a loss to Doug Sikora who did not cross the scales for a DQ, putting Soto up against Mike Murillo in the semifinals of Magnafuel Outlaw 10.5.Roger Holder keeps getting quicker, running a 6.13 at 245.54 MPH in a win over John Urist, who sat at the tree after having difficulty getting started before the run.In AOS Hot Street Mike DeMayo pushed his Powerhead-sponsored Mustang into the seven second zone, scoring a 7.98 at 169 MPH in a win over Anthony Valentino. DeMayo will face off with Bryan Cobbett in the final with lane choice after his win over Ryan Bell.Krusty Ramsey put his Malibu in the fours in round three of Vortech Outlaw 8.5, running a 4.991 at 141 MPH.Mickey Thompson Wild Street had some good racing in round three, with a highlight being a match with Taylor Lastor and Artis Houston. Houston went .061 on the tree to Lastors’ lazy .107. Houston put up his best of the weekend, 4.75 at 148, but couldn’t stay in front of Lastor’s hard-charging Camaro and his 4.698 at 152 MPH blast.In Magnafuel XDR, Chris Alston Jr. and Dave Hildebrand were the first pair out, with Hildebrand getting the starting line advantage. He bested his qualifying time with a 4.92 at 151 and so did Alston, running a 4.33 at 172 in a come-from-behind win.David Singletary lit the red bulb in his match with Kelly Henry, sending him to the round four and a bye into the final round.
Final Eliminations Results
PSCA officials and racers have returned to The Strip for a fifth day to complete eliminations over cool temperatures left us with an unsafe surface to race on last night. In the Outlaw Pro Mod class, Eric Dillard defeated a red-lighting Mike Maggio in the semifinals, but experienced severe engine damage and was unable to return for the final, allowing his teammate, Turky al Zafiri, to single for the win. In doing, the Q80 team ran the table in Street Car Super Nationals events in 2014. In Pro Mod, Rick Snavely, who was injured in a devastating crash at this race just a couple of years ago, triumphed over a 29-car field, running a 5.85 in the final round to defeat Michael Biehle, who got crossed up and swapped lanes, immediately disqualifying himself.
Taylor Lastor took Outlaw 10.5 honors over former event champion Mike Murillo with an off-pace 7.63, while Chris Alston Jr. rolled to a 4.39 in the Xtreme Drag Radial/TT5 final for the win, as opponent Kelly Henry broke just off the starting line. In Pro Radial, Roger Holder clicked off another deadly-consistent 6.13 in the semifinals to advance into the final round, where he was matched with David Rogers. Holder fell off his torrid pace with a 6.65 at 220 mph for the win, as Rogers slowed and coasted across the stripe.
In Wild Street, No. 1 qualifier Eric Gustafson clicked off low elapsed time in the semifinals with a 4.45 to punch his ticket into the final against Chris Groves. In the most exciting championship match of the day, Groves took an .014 to .032 edge out of the gate, but was just edged out at the stripe by Gustafson, 4.501 to 4.522. East coast invader Michael DeMayo charged to Hot Street honors with his ’95 Mustang, using an 8.00 to oust Bryan Cobbett’s 8.31. And in Outlaw 8.5, Joe Gallagher outlasted a tight field for the win, running 5.03 in the money round to down Eric Stubbs’ 5.29.
Other winners included Don McDavitt (Super Index), Brian Weber (Super Index), Sergio Felipe (Mustang Madness), Bob Bundy (Bracket 1), Scott Horsley (Street Muscle). The remaining Open Comp competitors split the purse in the semifinals.
Day three is underway here in Las Vegas and you couldn’t ask for better weather, with highs near 70 degrees and dipping into the 50’s as the sun goes down. We spoke with Heather Macy from The EFI Store, the Outlaw Pro Mod class sponsor for two years here at the SCSN. Tommy Dwyer and Rick Sachgel made the haul from Illinois to be here this weekend, attending SCSN for the first time. The team normally runs with the Chicago Wise Guys. Tommy's Chevelle has some history, and he purchased it in 2006 from Kevin O'Dell. It's powered by a 526 Chevy machined by AES and topped with AJE Heads and a PSI supercharger.

Tommy Johanns runs the Pit Mat USA Corvette in EFI Store Outlaw Pro Mod. Tommy has a new car this year after the chutes failed to deploy at Super Chevy last year, totaling his old car in the final after winning the event. This car was built by Steve Bruce and is powered by a BAE Hemi built by Jeff Schnieder and topped with a C rotor PSI blower.

We stopped by the Bisquick Racing pits this morning and spoke with Derek Peppers, who's running Mickey Thompson Wild Street this weekend. He runs an '88 Mustang with a small block Ford topped with Yates D3 heads and fed by a 94mm turbo. He's qualified ninth with a 4.92 at 148, a personal best with the car. Team mate Scott Bieschke runs Vortech Outlaw 8.5 and sits thirtieth in class. The crew was tearing the tires down for some new skins this morning after struggling with traction on Friday. Scott is the Outlaw 8.5 2013 event winner. He runs a small block Ford with AFR heads and an 88mm turbo. Machine work is handled by Scott's brother Rob Bieschke.

Don Walsh Jr. bumped Lutz to second in Precision Pro Mod, running a 5.74 at 257 MPH in this morning session.Paul Mouhayet hails from New South Wales, Australia, running this 2014 Mustang powered by an AJ 481X. His 5.68 at 271 puts him right in the thick of Outlaw Pro Mod.Turky Al Zafiri knocked Mike Maggio from number one, running a 5.61 at 272.50 MPH.Stanly & Weiss Racing is on the lot with their amazing Cadillac CTS-V. They have struggled a bit and got into some tire shake in this session. John Stanley pedaled the car, putting up a 5.80 at 248.

Nick Agostino jumped into first place in Magnafuel Outlaw 10.5 with an amazing 6.10 at 209, lifting after the rear cam plug pushed out, putting some oil into the drivers compartment. The engine is from Maximum Performance in Toronto and backed by an M&M trans with a Pro Torque converter with a pair of 94mm precision turbos. The chassis was originally built by The Chassis Stop and has been back to the shop after some brushes with the wall, offering Nick a quick turn around and quality service. This green and black Chevy II belongs to Matthew Frost from Platteville, Colorado and competed in Drag Week this year. The engine is an AMS Automotive 632 big block Chevy fed by twin 88mm Pro Mod turbos from Precision. He is another racer setting personal best ET’s this weekend with a best of 7.48 at 188 MPH. The car was just finished for Drag Week, making this their first official race for the new build. Matt’s own companies sponsor the car, In and Out Oilfield Services and In and Out Custom and Collision.Jerome Boddie wasn’t able to improve his position in Pro Radial but is flying with his Pro Line Racing-powered, PTP-tuned ’63 Nova this weekend, running a 6.35 at 232, earning second spot in the field.Brandon McBride improved to a 6.97 at 210, holding on to sixth in Pro Radial.Jason Kenzevich sits thirty third in Vortech Outlaw 8.5, just .005 out of the qualified field of 32 cars with his Las Vegas-based ’90 Mustang.Jack Avetisyan sits on the bump with a 5.739 at 109 in OL 8.5, driving his ’85 Buick GN.David Singletary is based out of from Surprise, Arizona and is here running Magnafuel XDR/TT5 and is qualified third so far in class. The Addiction Motorsports-sponsored car is qualified fourth, running an ARE-built 540 Chevy force-fed by an F3R 136 ProCharger. He runs Team Z Suspension with Mencser Motorsports shocks out back and a Powerglide from Pro Trans in Lancaster.Turbobullet.com owner Brandt Campbell runs this 1973 Camaro out of Amarillo, Texas with a single turbo 540 BBC from Dreamchaser Racing Engines, also in Texas. The car was built by Amarillo Race Cars and uses a Rossler Transmission and Pro Torque converter. Other sponsors include Hughes Transmissions, Joe Owpolski from Hyperactive, The EFI Store and Cartel Manufacturing wheels.Kayla Morton is running OL 10.5 with a Carol Carter Ford Hemi on alcohol with mechanical fuel injection. She was losing power and an inspection found a leaking head gasket, which she was just torquing as we stopped by the pits. The chassis and body is from Suncoast Race Cars in Brooksville, Florida. Sponsors include Renegade Fuel and Oil and Grand Prix Autosports Center in Tulsa. Kayla has appeared on the Street Outlaws show, look for her again this season.

Turky Al Zafiri was able to improve his ET in the final session from a 5.616 at 272.50 to a 5.599 at 271.84 MPH in the Q80 Racing, Pro Line Racing, El General Racing Camaro. Teammate Eric Dillard also improved from his third position to second with a 5.625 at 269.24, putting the Q80 team on opposite sides of the ladder for tomorrow’s eliminations.Nick Agostino took top honors in Magnafuel Outlaw 10.5 with a 6.105 at 209 in the fourth session this afternoon, though he wasn’t able to improve this evening. He will have an earned single tomorrow morning.Taylor Lastor has been improving steadily through qualifying and hit the setup in the final session, moving up to second from fifth with a 6.22 at 222.88, a full tenth better than his last run.Ken Sihota had led OL 10.5 qualifying through three rounds before being bumped by Agostino. The final session pushed him back to third despite improving his ET by just over three hundredths to a 6.232, a world record for an OL 10.5 nitrous car. He runs a Fulton 833 in the Firebird which formerly was campaigned in Pro Stock by Richie Stevens before being modified for outlaw racing. Sponsors include MWH Trucking and Excavating, Gradar Holdings, Rip Tide Towing and Water Taxi, Vagellis Grill and Lounge, TJ Racing, Landmark Realty Limited, Bucky Racing, Choice Mechanical, Ken’s Specialty Automotive White Powder Coating Limited and Tri City Cutting and Boring.One of the more interesting rides in the class is Kelly Harvey’s 41 Willys. He runs a BAE 521 and qualified eleventh with at 6.68 at 191 MPH.John Mihovetz is the quickest and fasted modular powered car and qualified fourth with a 6.26 at 241 but started pushing oil and will sit out eliminations.

Roger Holder kept getting quicker in ProCharger Pro Radial, lowering the record in the final session to a 6.138 and setting high MPH earlier with a 243.41 MPH blast. The Bakersfield, California racer was on a string most of qualifying. He runs a Pro Line Racing 525. Josh Klugger improved his ET to a 6.505 at 243.33, showing he has the power to keep up once the Fiscus/Klugger Racing crew find the setup for the front half. He is qualified third.Eric Aldrich brought his unassuming 1972 Maverick to compete in Vortech Outlaw 8.5, taking number one qualifier and busting off a 4.990 at 144.19 in the final session. He runs a supercharged 357 cubic inch Ford small block and is based out of Oceanside, California.Krusty Ramsey has been running well with his clean ’78 Malibu this weekend. The Peckham, Colorado racer improved his time to a 5.004 at 140.62 MPH, moving up to number two qualifier in OL 8.5 in the final session.Manuel Figueroa launched his Induction Solutions-sponsored -95 Mustang hard in the final session, getting some air and spitting flames out the pipes. He improved slightly to a 5.390 at 136 ans sits in twenty second spot in the OL 8.5 field.Richard Shelly put his ’81 Capri in the air in final qualifying, forcing him to pedal the car and dashing his hopes of improving his position. He is nineteenth in the very popular and exciting class.Eric Gustafson led Mickey Thompson Wild Street all through qualifying before breaking in the 4.40’s in the final session with a 4.456 at 162.88, taking home the Wild Street record in the process and the honor of the first car into the 4.40’s. The Racecraft Inc built car features an engine originally from Kurt Urban, now done by Pettis Performance and tuned by PTP Performance. Sponsors include Racecraft, PTP, Procharger, Comp Cams, Billet Atomizer and the family business Coast Packing.Chris Groves improved his ET from a 4.58 to a 4.52 in the final session, also knocking on the 4.40’s.Artis Houston is back to racing after his crash last year with a rebuilt car and this is the first time out after repairs. He made some motor-only runs earlier in qualifying before turning on the bottle and running a 4.96 at 145, good for tenth in class.Norman Chang is number one qualifier in Magnafuel XDR/TT5 with a 4.319 at 179.97 MPH. The Atherton, California-based racer runs a 420 cubic inch Ford small block with twin Garrett turbos out front.Max Burger had a big nitrous backfire on his final run in XDR, requiring the track safety crew to employ the fire extinguishers to get things under control. He is qualified fourteenth with his 66 Chevy II with a 5.42.Kelly Henry was charging hard on his final run but did not improve his number four position from his earlier 4.51 at 164 MPH.Chris Alston Jr. rode this one out a while before aborting the run. He sits fifth with his earlier 4.51.

Troy “Pimp Daddy” Cafaro runs this 1963 Corvette in Magnafuel OL 10.5 with a small block Chevy 400 topped with BD 2000 heads and force-fed by twin 88’s with a Kam engine management system. He has been running this set up about two years, making an easy 6.80 pass yesterday on lower boost.“Wild Man” Eric Peterson runs The EFI Store Outlaw Pro Mod with his 1951 Chevy. Eric switched from a ProCharged set up to twin Precision 88’s feeding a 600 cubic inch Big M Chevy block. This is his first weekend running turbos for the Seattle, Washington area based team. Lloyd Culp Race Cars built the chassis with engine machine work by Randy Parker and assembled in-house backed by a Rossler three speed and spec right converter.

NHRA Midwest Nationals Pro Mod Champion Mike Knowles is here and doing some morning maintenance checking the torque on some new connecting rods. Mike hails from Grand Junction, Colorado with the Blown Money Racing team. Dickenson, North Dakota’s Rare Breed Racing with driver Rick Schmidt is here running on ten fives for the first time this weekend. His best run this weekend is a 6.80 on the tire, normally running 6.40’s on the big tire in Pro Outlaw, winning the track championship at Brainerd, Minnesota this year.

Dean Branham owns this 1969 Barracuda powered by a BAE Hemi, assembled in-house and built himself. It's a new combo on just its second time out. About a month ago he had the car out for the first time at Mission Raceway Park in Mission, BC, Canada where a small fire damaged the front end and some wiring. The car is too damaged to repair here this weekend.Mike Bowman put his 1969 Chevelle on the pole of Precision Turbo Pro Mod with a 5.83 at 253 for the Oak Hills, California-based racer. He sports a 2 on his windshield, signifying his 2013 points standing.Eric Latino made the tow from Port Perry, Ontario, landing fourth with a 5.93 at 242.Canada is heavily represented here at the SCSN X. This beautiful ’57 Chevy is based out of Port Alberni, BC, and driven by Johnny West. He runs a Reher Morrison 622 but was off pace in this round with a 7.41 at 180.Kevin Fiscus and the Fiscus/Klugger Racing team have both cars here this weekend, with Fiscus sitting tenth after two rounds in Pro Mod with a 6.13 at 194, shutting down a little early. He set the Orlando Speedworld Dragway track record back in October and is a 5.80’s capable car.Ken Sihota leads Magnafuel OL 10.5 after two sessions with a 6.27 at 221 with his Langley BC based 2000 Firebird, running a Fulton 833 and scoring one for team nitrous.San Antonio racer Mike Murillo sits in fourth so far in Magnafuel Outlaw 10.5 after winning two prior SCSN events here. His best so far is a 6.56 at 214 MPH.Kayla Morton is based out of Caveta, Oklahoma, driving this 2005 Mustang. Some of you may recognize her name from the Street Outlaws TV show. She sits eighth with a 6.84 at 177, lifting way early on the pass.Roger Holder is now officially number one qualifier in ProCharger Pro Radial with a 6.27 at 240 MPH. The car was built by Darren Breaud from B&B race Cars and purchased from Chris Daniels and converted to a twin-turbo combination. He ran a stellar 6.19 at 240 last night but was in the Pro Mod shootout testing. Both runs are well under the current drag radial quarter-mile record currently held by Kevin Fiscus at 6.483 at 236.51 MPH set at the MIR World Cup in 2012.John Schweers is competing in Pro Drag Radial with his ’62 notchback VW. He sits fourteenth with a 9.14 at 146. The Yeager label paint job is reminiscent of Shannon Wren’s Outlaw Drag Radial Mustang which was the first car to run 200 MPH on the tire several years back in Memphis.Brian Manski (near lane) paired up with Team Wolfpack’s Brandon McBride, making for an interesting match. Manski landed eleventh with a 8.03 at 179 while McBride put his home-built ’74 Skyline in sixth with a 7.09 at 203 MPH.Irvine, California-based Brad Udell runs his 1967 Nova in AOS Hot Street and sits fifth with a 8.33 at 162 MPH. This is a naturally aspirated class with the top cars knocking on the seven second door.Ryan Bell runs this 1976 Corvette in Hot Street with a 439-inch small Chevy power plant. His 8.41 at 159 was good for seventh out of eight cars and a nice wheels up launch.Scotty Bieschke kicked the tires hard on his round two qualifying attempt in Vortech Outlaw 8.5. He sits thirtieth of thirty eight cars attempting to qualify for the class.Rick Hatch is based out of Riverside, CA with his ’91 notch. He runs a 351 Ford small block and put up a 5.32 at 130 for eighteenth in class so far.Dan Hale ran well on his attempt, landing fifth with a 5.17 at 144 MPH using a Coyote 302 based engine.Eric Gustafson still holds number one in Mickey Thompson Wild Street with a 4.57 at 162.James Lawrence and the Dragzine crew found their issue and jumped to the second spot with a 4.66 at 157 MPH in the Temecula, CA-based 2002 Camaro running a 402 ci LSX engine.

Eric Dillard and Turky Al Zafiri both improved their lot with a pair of 5.64's in the third session of Outlaw Pro Mod. Dillard sits second with Zafiri in third with just .002 seperating them and Zafari running high MPH of the event so far with a 271.08 MPH blast for team Q80. This 1970 Chevelle in Outlaw Pro Mod is driven by Tom Dwyer, based in Huntley, Illinois and powered by a 526 big Chevy. He sits in twelfth with a 6.43 with his best MPH being 229.Dal Sangha runs his small block Ford-powered 2010 Mustang in the Precision Turbo Pro Mod class for NHRA legal cars. His best so far is a 6.27 at 229, good for eighteenth in the field.Jeff Lutz had some assistance from Mike Murillo tuning his Camaro and it paid off big time, putting the crowd on it’s feet after his 5.78 at 263.99 MPH blast to put him on top of Precision Turbo Pro Mod.Ken Sihota keeps getting quicker with his 2000 Firebird, bumping low ET down to a 6.232 at 222.36 MPH in OL 10.5. He remains number one qualifier.John Mihovetz improved dramatically, jumping up to number two qualifier with a.26 at 241 MPH with his record-setting Modular powered 2009 Shelby Mustang.Cleveland, Texas based Taylor Lastor also improved a bunch, moving to seventh in the OL 10.5 field, running a 6.55 at just 177 in the third session.Dean Branham didn’t make round three after hurting the trans and waiting on parts. The Ardorssan, Alberta racer put his ‘Cuda in twenty first position with a 7.36 at 186.Louis Katsaros runs this 55 Bel Air out of Albequerque, NM with a Pat Musi 665 Chevy and is always a crowd favorite. He ran better in this session with a 7.24 at 188 though he fell three spots to eighteenth.Roger Holder has been big news all weekend with his ProCharger Pro Radial Camaro, setting records this evening and putting up a stellar 6.16 at 243 MPH blast. Word is there is several pounds of boost left and we have to wonder if he will try for a five second run in tomorrow’s qualifying.Josh Klugger improved his lot in Pro Radial with a 6.61 at 236 MPH, landing third in the field behind Holder and Jermain Boddie.Art Raz is also running Pro Radial and made the haul from Ridgefield, Washington with his ’85 Mustang. His 8.69 at 151 was good for fifteenth spot of seventeen cars in class.John Urist is here this weekend running Pro Radial as well. His 6.88 at 205 puts him fifth.Mike DeMayo improved slightly to an 8.012 at 168.51, still leading the AOS Hot Street field.Tony Aneian is from North Hollywood, California with his 1968 Camaro. He runs a 510 big block Chevy and sits third with an 8.14 at 165.George Raygoza got into a wheelstand in the third session of Vortech Outlaw 8.5 and was unable to improve his 5.03 at 145. Despite his best efforts to save the run he lifted past the 330 clock.L.A.-based Anthony Smith sits in sixth spot with a 5.16 at 140.This Toyota Supra is driven by Dana Westover based right here in Las Vegas. He put up a nice 5.61 at 141, taking twenty fifth spot in the OL 8.5 field.Artis Houston is back racing and made his first nitrous pass on the new setup this session of Mickey Thompson Wild Street, running a 5.09 at 119 on a short hit to check things over.Lamar Swindoll Jr. is another Texas-based racer with his 1970 Nova. He sits sixth with a 4.77 at 152 MPH using a 615 cubic inch big block Chevy.Richard Brown fell to nineteenth in the third session and was unable to improve his time. He ran a 5.63 at only 90 MPH, so there is a bunch on the table for the Waterville, Minnesota based team.David Hildebrand runs this ’65 Corvette in Magnafuel XDR/TT5 and is solidly mid-pack with a 4.97 at 151 MPH.This ’64 box Nova belongs to Chris Alston Jr. out of Elk Grove, California. He runs a 526 big block Chevy and is currently qualified fourth in XDR/TT5 with a 4.56 at 174 MPH.Number three qualifier David Singletary is from Surprise, Arizona, running a Fulton 762. He ran a 4.64 at 160 earlier today.
The highly anticipated Street Car Super Nationals returns to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for its tenth edition, in what may very well prove to be the best one yet, with many of the top names in the business from around the country descending upon Sin City to do battle. Can the outright Pro Modified and street legal world records be shattered? Only time will tell, but you can be sure we’ll have all of the action here in our same day coverage, presented by our friends at Comp Cams, all weekend long!
Thursday is the get acquainted day for many racers here at The Strip in Las Vegas as they only come here once a year. Doug Sikora the Oultaw 10.5 2013 Champion started of this year Street Car Super Nationals putting his car on the pole with 6.31 at 223.80 in today’s lone qualifying session with twenty three cars in the field today. Doug Harvey dives the Diablo Rojo VW Beetle for Harvey and Larsen Racing using a turbocharged old style air cooled block and heads running OL 10.5 this weekend. His best run in the car is a 7.80 @ at 175 MPH. The Tumecula, California based team sits 23’rd in class today after a DQ on his qualifying attempt..Nick Agostino hauled down from Markham, Ontario to battle in OL 10.5 landing second in the field with a 6.71 at 163 shut off run. Look for them to improve Friday as 6.7’s is nowhere close to the teams potential.Roy Monznik wheeled the Monznik Brothers Racing 1968 El Camino to a 7.18 at 199 landing seventh in the Magnafuel Outlaw 10.5 field. This is another team based out of Canada, hailing from Langley, BC. The car is a memorial build for his brother Dale and Roy has his son as well as his nephew here in Vegas.Kelly Harvey drove out from Fort Collins, Colorado with his gorgeous 41 Willys powered by a BAE 521. The classic flamed ride sits fifth in OL 10.5 so far. He was paired with Monznik besting him with a 6.86 at 186.Texas based Taylor Lastor brought two cars to compete this weekend, this Camaro fits the SCSN OL 10.5 class with a small weight adder for the fabricated body sitting on a full Pro Mod chassis. Out west of wind indeed with such cars allowed in competition.Jermain Boddie leads Procharger Pro Radial after one session with a 6.53 at 230 in his PLR powered 63 box Nova.Willard Kinzer sits second in Procharger Pro Radial behind Jermain Boddie taking one and two spots for Pro Line Racing with Kinzer’s 7.24 at 204.Brandon McBride ran this Nissan Skyline last year and is back at it again ripping off a 7.66 at 193 this afternoon in Pro Charger Pro Radial.Josh Klugger was off to a good start but lost traction running a 7.90 at 153 on his attempt landing eighth so far.Roger Holder struggled in Pro Radial qualifying and bought into Pro Mod to get a hit later and scoring a knockout punch 6.16 at 240 on the 315 Mickey Thompson 315 drag radial making him the quickest and fastest man on the tire on the quarter mile. His eighth mile was a 4.16 at 189, also a personal best. The crew has been working on the short half of the track and lightened the car some so it’s not over weight. Holders Air Conditioning and Deeds Performance help out with power from a PLR 5 inch Billet 525 ci engine tuned by Josh Ledford.AOS Hot Street has seven cars here today with Michael Demayo leading the field with an 8.03 at 168 MPH for Team Powerhead.Peoria, AZ racer Vic Brum put his 1970 Chevelle second in Hot Street running a nice 8.13 at 164 using a 552 big Chevy power plant.Ryan Bell, also from Peoria, AZ runs this 1976 Corvette in Hot Street as well. His 8.44 at 161 was good for fifth.Casey Van Tol (far lane) and Scott Bieschke paired up in Vortech Outlaw 8.5 with Bieschke blowing the tires off at the hit. Van Tol landed fifteenth with a 5.59 at 126 MPH in the 32 car field.Big cars are popular out west with this 71 Chevelle owned by Scott Lewis out of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. the small blocked powered Chevy tripped the beams at 5.58 at just 101 MPH. Clearly he has much more potential than his fourteenth spot.Toby Jackson’s 65 box Nova leaves hard running a 5.58 at 126 to land just in front of Lewis.Mickey Thompson Wild Street has some interesting entries including this 1946 Dodge Pick Up driven by Doug Driggers out of Chandler, Arizona. He sits sevents out of twenty one cars with a 5.15 at 137 MPH.Eric Gustafson leads Wild Street with a stellar 4.57 at 162 with his LSX Powered 89 Mustang out of Vernon, California.Dragzine.com’s own James Lawrence sits in sixth with a 5.11 at 140. They are struggling with the car going right about 200 feet out as the car can perform much better.A crowd favorite is Armen Maghdessian’s flamed 57 Chevy. He got into a big wheelstand on his run landing hard for fifteenth spot in class.Norman Chang ripped off a 4.37 at 173 to take number one spot in Magnafuel XDR/TT5.Brant Campbell put his Turbobullet Camaro in ninth position of Magnafuel XDR/TT5 with a 5.93 at 100 after getting loose down track and shutting down.Wearing number 3 David Singletary landed second spot with a 4.46 at 160 in his 1969 Fulton powered Camaro.The Outlaw Pro Mid Shootout today had some fast number thrown around with Mike Maggio layign down a 5.69 early in the session.Clint Hairston ran well but not enough to make a dent in Maggio’s ET. Hairston is a regular in the NMCA West and PSCA series with his twin turbocharged GTO.Rick Snavely put up a personal best ET 5.90 at 254 for the Turbosdirect team.Jeff Lutz paired off with Larry Larson earlier this afternoon for their match race getting the win though both cars ran off pace. We will let you know if they decide to try again in Friday.Larry also made the ride out here to attempt a five second pass with his Drag Week participant truck. Thay willbe a feat for sure if he can accomplish that in a street driven vehicle.

Team Q80 and Eric Dillard (blue car) took top honors in the Pro Mod Shootout tonight. Dillard recorded a 5.58 at 264 in Jose Gozalez' Camaro with Turky going a 5.56 at 27o. I spoke with Dillard after the runs and he thinks if the track is there they may be close to the record later this weekend. Also special thanks for Q80 Motorsports and Jose Gonzalez.
