NHRA Division 3 LODRS Coverage From National Trail Raceway

National Trail Raceway (NTR) is a historic venue in Hebron, Ohio that has hosted many big events. The NHRA Division 3 track puts on a big sportsman racer show each year known as JEGS Speedweek. Racers get a chance to participate in a double event that kicks off with the JEGS SPORTSNationals, and rolls into an NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series (LODRS) meet.

The 2024 JEGS SPORTSNationals was impacted by some weather, but the team at NTR was able to run the race to completion. Directly after the JEGS SPORTSNationals, everyone switched gears to kick off the LODRS event. The pits were absolutely packed with the best NHRA sportsman racers from around the country so the racing was tremendous.

Phillip Smkda picked up the Super Street win over Alan Bush in a double breakout situation during the final round of the LODRS race. In Super Gas, Tim Tiry turned on the red light and handed the win to Joey Shipp. Chad Lamont defeated Landon Exner in the Super Comp final thanks to his .001 reaction time that was paired to an 8.903 run.

Derrick Wyche beat James Marshall in the final round of Stock Eliminator to bring home a Wally. Super Stock was won by Jeremy Duncan, who beat Bo Fowler in the final round. Bill Yates was able to secure a Top Sportsman win by beating James Hinkle. In Top Dragster, Jeffery Smith beat Chuck Krepela to bring home the win.

Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car were contested at the NTR LODRS race. Since both of these classes only qualified six racers for the event, the racing was tight. Tony Stewart made an appearance at the race and cleaned house. Stewart was the number one qualifier, set low ET, set top speed, and won the event. In Top Alcohol Funny Car, Sean Bellemeur made his presence known in a big way. Bellemeur set low ET, and was the number one qualifier on his way to win the event.
