Bahrain’s EKanoo Racing team opened the 2016 season with a bang when they recorded the quickest and fastest import run in the world back in early January. And since that time, they haven’t slowed down one iota.

On January 11, in the shot heard ‘round the world, American driver Gary White drove EKanoo’s brand new Toyota GT-86 to the quickest and fastest pass in history by an import-powered vehicle, going 5.77 at 247 mph. Since that time, they’ve continued to tack on the five-second runs, while working to not only better the .77, but to crack the 250 mph barrier.

12773398_10154033203402642_21455391_oAs many know, speed is largely a result of sheer horsepower, and despite just six cylinders to work with from the Toyota 2JZ powerplant, the EKanoo team is making it in spades, as evidenced by a barrier-busting 252.29 mph blast this week, coupled with a 5.86-second elapsed time.

Elsewhere in the EKanoo garage at the Bahrain International Circuit, the team’s Nissan GT-R has been steadily knocking the international GT-R record down a few notches, busting through the 7.40s, 7.30s and now into the .20s, with a recent record-setting shot of 7.265 seconds at over 204 mph with Mohammed Zainalabedin at the wheel. The team’s GT-R is tuned by Wayne Potts, with assistance from Marco Passante and Josh Ledford (who built the turbo system and does some suspension tuning on the car).
