Video: 10.5 Ace Nick Agostino Crashes During $20k Grudge Match

[1]Northeast Outlaw 10.5 standout and Radial vs The World moonlighter Nick Agostino emerged with only minor injuries after a heart-stopping crash at the Yellow Bullet Nationals [2] last Sunday when he lost control of his twin-turbocharged Chevrolet Camaro at the top end of Cecil County Dragway’s eighth-mile strip and crashed.

Agostino, in his proven three-second machine, had prior to the event negotiated a $20,000 grudge race with fellow 10.5 runner Jerry Morgano in his Ford Mustang. With inclement weather on Saturday, the anticipated matchup was moved to Sunday’s final session of qualifying — for Agostino, in hindsight, it would have been better off washed-out entirely.

Cognizant of the kind of money being raced for in one shot, Agostino made every effort to get his Camaro to the stripe ahead of Morgano. But ultimately, he paid the price, as the car got loose in the marbles, spun around and took flight, slamming down on its driver’s side flanks and rolling onto its roof, where it slid to a stop.

While his crew tended to the battered racecar, Agostino visited a local medical facility, where he was diagnosed with a separated shoulder, caused by the impact with the shoulder hoop of the roll cage when the car made its brutal touch-down with the pavement. Aside from the usual bumps and cruises and the hit to the ego and pocketbook, he was otherwise unharmed, bu will certainly be out of the game for a while to make repairs.
