In drag racing circles, if you want to build something wild, Michigan native Steve Morris and his Steve Morris Engines shop is probably the place for the job. For the uninitiated, Steve once shot a dyno video with the cameras rolling from the gas station to the dyno room to prove the use of real pump gas, competes in Drag Radial with a Buick Roadmaster station wagon known as the “Boostmaster,” and has a rap of wicked boosted engines a mile long to his credit.
In this latest dyno video from the Morris facility, Steve flogs this badass 572 cubic inch big block wedge Chrsyler, sporting a Keith Black engine block, Brodix B1 cylinder heads, a solid roller camshaft, a Holley EFI Dominator setup with Mike Moran fuel injection, and other treats, all preceded by not one, but a pair of F-2 self-contained ProChargers sporting Morris’ own Provolute design.
This monster is headed for the engine bay of Darryl Johnson’s ’71 Duster, which he intends to hit the road with next month for HOT ROD’s annual Drag Week, where he’ll take on defending champ Larry Larson and several other challengers in the Unlimited category.
Pre the request of Johnson, Morris was unable to share any of the results of these dyno tests, but one can use their own imagination as to just how much grunt a 572 with twin centrifugals can produce.
