You can’t perform at a high level in a racing series without being consistent, and that means you need to use parts that are reliable on your racecar. A slew of racers in the NMRA and NMCA had impressive seasons thanks to solid performances and dependable fuel system parts from Weldon High Performance.

The NMRA Open Comp class is highly competitive, and if you earn a championship in this division it’s considered a great accomplishment. William “Bam” Jones raced hard throughout 2020 and picked up the series title while using his Weldon 16420-A fuel pump. Heads-up racer Frank Paultanis in Coyote Stock and Bill Putnam in Limited Street both used a Weldon D2035-A fuel pump during their title runs in the NMRA. Joel Greathouse has a reputation as a tough racer, and he proved why by scoring a championship in the NMRA Renegade class while using a Weldon 34712 fuel pump.

“I was using another company’s fuel pump and was struggling to keep seals in it…I had to keep several spare pumps on hand plus seal kits at each event. I run a blow-through carburetor with a turbo system and I was having a lean condition issue at the top end of the race track on each pass. The Weldon pump gave me enough fuel flow to solve that issue and run the car a little harder at the top end,” says William Jones.

Weldon products were well represented across the NMCA in 2020, with numerous racers earning spots in the final top 10 in points for the season, along with a pair of championships. In Xtreme Street, Joel Greathouse, Haley James, Jason Spina, and Scott Grove all finished in the top 10 using a variety of Weldon Racing fuel pumps. Most notably, Vince Khoury captured the series’ Nitrous Pro Street title.

“We made the switch from running a N/A combo to nitrous in 2020 and Weldon helped make that transition easy. Jim helped us find the right fuel pump and bypass regulator. It helped flow more fuel so the engine never went lean and ate any pistons. Jim was also at the track to help answer any questions we had and provided support as needed,” Khoury explains.

John Langer finished number three in the world in NA 10.5 using a B2311-A fuel pump, while Dennis Butt finished number four in the Street King class using his DB2025-A Weldon fuel pump. The Nitrous Pro Street crown was captured by Vince Khoury who used a Weldon B2311-A fuel pump. Bill Skillman won the Factory Super Cars championship and finished third in the Stock/Super Stock Combo class thanks to his 2345-A fuel pump.

“Weldon is immensely proud to have been a part of so many NMCA and NMRA class champion-winning seasons in 2020. Through what has been an unpredictable year for all of us, the commitment shown by racers over the course of this season is incredible. That Weldon got to ride along with so many racers to a championship season is a very special honor for our entire team,” says Weldon’s Racing Products Manager, Jim Craig.
