We learned back in October that Irwindale Speedway would be closing forever in December of 2024. This is a huge blow to the racing community of California, but it didn’t mean that Irwindale would be going quietly into the night. The facility had several events on its final schedule, including the MOONEYES Christmas Party Show & Drag event.
MOONEYES is an iconic name in the custom car and high-performance worlds. The company helped spark the booming Californian car scene and was a big part of the drag racing world in the early days of the sport. The Christmas Party was a way for gearheads to get together and celebrate all things horsepower at Irwindale.
There were plenty of cool cars on display at the 2024 MOONEYES Christmas Party Show & Drag event. Those who came to Irwindale for the party got to see vendors, live bands, a pinup girl contest, pinstriping, and much more. Racers made passes down the track, while the showfield had lots of awesome ’72 and older vehicles on display.
