WILL STEVENSON WINS SECOND ORTC RACE AT RAIN DELAYED SGMP

The Outlaw Radial Tire Championship Series headed back to South Georgia Motorsports Park for the first Boost vs. No Boost event of 2010. Jason Black grabbed the No Boost win after good friend Jason Richards broke a transmission in the semifinals, and Will Stevenson won the Boost side in a final round rout of John Kolivas with a 4.69 to an off-pace 4.85.

NHRA: Coverage recaps on Dragzine.com. Tony Schumacher, Robert Hight, Warren Johnson, and Michael Phillips grabbed wins in their respective categories at the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway International Raceway.  Pro Stock was a wild affair, As Johnson grabbed his 97th career victory with lady luck on his side, benefiting from the poor fortunes of heavy hitters Mike Edwards and Jeg Coughlin on his way to victory lane. IHRA Nitro Jam: Recap of the weekends events on DRAGZINE. The IHRA Nitro Jam tour rumbled into the famed Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina this weekend, one of the most popular and anticipated sites on the annual calendar.  In addition to the headlining Professional classes – Top Fuel, Pro Fuel, and Prostalgia Funny Car, this weekends event was the rescheduled date for the IHRA Tournament of Champions, which would crown the 2009 sportsman category World Champions.  Event recap can be viewed at IHRA.com and full race results can be seen at Drag Race Central.

Cecil County Street Car Shootout: Race recap at DRAGZINE. May 1 was the first Saturday of the month, and that means Outlaw Street Car Shootout action at Cecil county Dragway in Rising Sun, MD.  Tom Kasper got the best of his son, T.J., in the Outlaw 10.5 final, singling to a 4.410 at 170 MPH after the younger Kaspers’ Mustang broke in the water box.

NHRA Division 1: The NHRA’s Division 1 competitors finally dusted off the snow and headed to the quarter mile at Atco Raceway in Atco, NJ. Wayne Horton took the Top Dragster title with a final round defeat of Frank Zeffiro, and Lincoln Morehead won Super Stock, taking down Bryan Worner in a battle of northeast hitters.  Race recap at NHRA.com and full results at Drag Race Central.

NHRA Division 6: The Northwest division also held its first race of the new year, the 40th annual NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor at Firebird Raceway in Boise, ID.  Jim Murphy took Nostalgia Top Fuel honors, running a low E.T. 5.802 to best Adam Sorokin’s engine-banging 9.208.  Ken Heard grabbed the super Gas Wally, topping the always tough Mike Ferderer in the final round.  Event recap at NHRA.com and full results at Drag Race Central.
