Randy Shipp has an impressive fleet of race cars, and his 1960 Corvette certainly stands out. This classic Corvette has spent time both as a rowdy street car and now lives its life at the drag strip running in Super Street. It goes without saying that this Corvette runs as good as it looks.

This Corvette really is a great ride for Randy since he is a self-proclaimed old Corvette lover. Randy had his eye on this car for some time before he was finally able to add it to his collection of classic Chevrolets.

“I bought the car from a friend of mine named Randy Warford. He’d owned the car for like 10 years, and I was always asking him to let me buy it. Well, he finally gave me a number to buy the car, and of course,e I had to make it mine,” Randy says.

Every piece of chrome trim is still on the car, along with all the original body panels. It has become a point of pride for Randy that his Corvette is still a real Corvette. The car is a real treat for Randy to drive since it’s so easy to see out of when he’s racing.

To compete in the ultra-competitive Super Street class and run the 10.99 number, Randy installed a 565 cubic inch big-block from Badman Racing Engines. Behind the big rat motor, you’ll find a sturdy powerglide transmission. All of that horsepower is sent to 4-link suspension, 9-inch rearend, and big slicks. Off the throttle stop, the Corvette will run deep into the 8.90s at 150 mph.
