Selecting the first two teams for the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout, presented by Summit Racing, wasn’t an easy task.

The builders chosen for this season’s competition will face one of the toughest challenges in grassroots drag racing. Each team will have just six days to build a formidable small-tire, nitrous setup capable of taking on some of the best builders in the country. Making the challenge even tougher is the strict budget. Every team receives a $7,000 Summit Racing gift card and can contribute only $3,000 of its own money, creating a total build budget of $10,000 to go from roller to race car.

Our first selection, Team Next, brings plenty of hardcore racing experience and will undoubtedly be a formidable competitor. The second team joining Big 3 Racing and Team Next also has an impressive skill set, but they’re equally known for having fun while doing it.

Of course, we’re talking about Team Bucketlist Mob.

Meet Team Bucketlist Mob

Mike Heston will serve as “The Don” of Team Bucketlist Mob during the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout.

Joining Heston will be a well-rounded crew of mob lieutenants that includes Mike Wiles, Matt Lewis, and Jack Rachel. Together, the group brings a diverse range of fabrication, mechanical, and racing experience to the build center at Big 3 Racing in West Salem, Ohio, where the competition will take place.

The team has experience building a wide variety of vehicles and working with multiple engine combinations, making them well-prepared for the unique twists of this year’s challenge.

Ready For Nitrous And Any Fuel System

One of the major rule changes for this season requires every team to use nitrous oxide as its power-adder.

That shouldn’t be a problem for Team Bucketlist Mob.

The group has extensive experience with all kinds of combinations and should have no trouble adapting to the mandatory power-adder. They are also prepared to work with either of the induction system options that may be provided during the build process: a Holley EFI system or an Edelbrock carburetor.

The Ugly Duckling Arrives

In true Team Bucketlist Mob fashion, the crew isn’t bringing an ordinary vehicle to the competition.

Their chosen platform is a gasser-style 1965 Ford Fairlane known as “The Ugly Duckling.”

The classic Ford has already seen plenty of street and strip action throughout its life, making it an ideal foundation for a budget-minded race car build. With plenty of character, The Ugly Duckling should fit right in with the spirit of the $10K Drag Shootout.

Who Will Be The Final Team?

With Team Next, Team Bucketlist Mob, and Big 3 Racing officially locked into the competition, only one spot remains.

Who will become the fourth and final team in this season’s Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout presented by Summit Racing?

That decision will be up to the fans.

A pair of teams will compete in a fan-vote selection process, giving viewers the opportunity to help determine who earns the final spot in the competition. Be sure to follow Dragzine and Horsepower Wars on social media to see the competing teams and cast your vote.
