And then there were four.
After turning the final team selection over to the fans, the votes are in. Team Food Stamp Fast has earned the final spot in the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout Season 4 Presented by Summit Racing.
Team Food Stamp Fast will join Big 3 Racing, Team Next, and Team Bucket List Mob in this year’s budget drag racing build competition.
Virgil Clontz will lead teammates Devin Grace, Ian Kavanaugh, and Stan “THE MAN” Allen into battle at the Big 3 Racing build center in West Salem, Ohio, for the fourth installment of the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout. Their weapon of choice is a 1978 Ford Fairmont wagon known as “The Meat Wagon,” and they’re ready to see what it can do.
Grace is the driver, fabricator, tuner, and builder with 20 years of experience in racing and building, who owns a fab shop. Kavanaugh is also a mechanic and fab shop owner who is equally as experienced a racer and tuner. Allen is a mechanic and crew chief, who owns Mint Diesel with 15 years of experience. Clontz is the leader, mouthpiece, and personality of the crew with 12 years of experience, including as a promoter of events like No Joke No Prep.
The team faces a serious challenge. They’ll have just six days to transform The Meat Wagon from a rolling chassis into a competitive drag racing machine. Adding even more pressure, Team Food Stamp Fast will have only a $7,000 Summit Racing gift card and $3,000 of its own money to purchase parts for the build.
There’s another twist, too.
None of the teams will have complete control over their engine combination. Every competitor must use nitrous oxide as the mandatory power-adder, and each team will receive the same nitrous system from NOS.
But that’s not all.
A random drawing will determine both the induction system and engine platform each team receives. Teams will draw either a Holley EFI system or an Edelbrock carburetor, along with a Summit SPC engine block in one of four configurations:
- Small-Block Chevy
- Big-Block Chevy
- Small-Block Ford
- LS
That means every team must be prepared to build serious horsepower with whichever combination fate hands them.
With the fan vote complete and all four teams officially locked in, the stage is now set for another exciting season of the Horsepower Wars $10K Drag Shootout Presented by Summit Racing, where creativity, fabrication skills, engine-building knowledge, and smart budgeting will determine who takes home the title.
Horsepower Wars would like to thank its sponsors of the $10K Drag Shootout 4, including Summit Racing, Old World Industries/PEAK, SPAL, VP Racing, Edelbrock, COMP Cams, ARP, Cometic Gasket, ATI Performance Products, JE Pistons, Total Seal, Holley, Moroso, Racequip, Hoosier Racing Tire, and NOS.
