The winds of change are sweeping across the radial-racing landscape, and several teams are making changes to try to stay ahead of the game. One of the most notable is current NMCA Radial Wars points leader Daniel Pharris, who has slapped a “For Sale” sign on his ProLine powered 1995 Mustang Cobra.
Pharris, along with friend and crew chief Tyler Crossnoe, made the decision to move away from the stock suspension platform and are looking to make the leap to a Larry Jeffers-built Pro Modified style chassis.
Pharris’ car, which began its life as a 1995 Mustang Cobra, features a double framerail 25.3 certified chromoly chassis and a host of carbon fiber body panels to reduce weight. Beneath those body panels lies a Racecraft Elite rearend with a Strange floater kit and Ultra Case center section. A brand new pair of axles bolt to beadlock wheels, while Strange brakes bring the car to a stop on the top end.
Up front, a Racecraft K-member contains a Stiletto steering rack and Strange brakes. Absorbing the bumps and keeping the tires planted is handled by Menscer 4-way adjustable AFCO shocks on the rear, while custom valved Santhuff struts handle the front suspension.
Power comes from a 572 CID ProLine-built 481X combo, crammed full of air by a pair of 98mm or 102mm Precision turbos, a decision to be made by the buyer. The Cobra is one of the most data-friendly setups on the track, with a Racepak V300SD setup that boasts over $10,000 worth of data sensors to keep tabs on everything in the car.
The buyer will also get a complete Fueltech FT500 System with dual wideband sensors to ensure maximum control over the fuel system. Rearward from the engine, a ProTorque EV1 converter sends power to an M&M Turbo 400 transmission. The car has been 3.89 at 210 MPH in competition and is consistently one of the front runners at every event Pharris and crew show up for.
