The doorslammer show that the NMCA brings to drag strips across the United States is ready to kick off another huge season of racing. With plenty of classes, there’s something for every fan that loves drag racing at an NMCA event. SpeedVideo will be at every race bringing you all the action as it happens during the 2020 NMCA season.
The six-race NMCA season will once again begin at Bradenton Motorsports Park with the Muscle Car Mayhem event. After the fun in the sun is done, the NMCA packs its bags and heads to Atlanta Dragway for the NMRA/NMCA All Star Nationals where racers from both sanctioning bodies will compete head-to-head. After the trip to Atlanta, the NMCA heads to World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway for the first NMCA Power Festival. The last half of the NMCA season will feature three huge events, including the NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing, the NMCA All-American Nationals, and then the NMCA World Street Finals.
During the NMCA Power Festival some of the quickest and fastest radial tire racers in the world will make an appearance. Mike Galimi from the NMCA explains what fans can expect to see in St. Louis during this exciting event.
“A special Mickey Thompson Radial Rampage event will take place during the NMCA Power Festival at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway. This race will include Radial vs. The World, Limited Drag Radial, Street Outlaw, and Xtreme Street. All of the qualifying happens on Friday night for the radial cars and eliminations go down on Saturday evening, forming a cool after-hours program.”
The NMCA always brings copious amounts of heads-up racing to each event and this season won’t be any different. Xtreme Pro Mod, Factory Super Car, NA 10.5, ARP Nitrous Pro Street, and Chevrolet Performance Stock are all part of the NMCA program again in 2020. Index racers are the backbone of the NMCA and they will be represented again with the Nostalgia Super Stock, Nostalgia Muscle, Open Comp and Stock/Super Stock Combo classes.
Chevrolet Performance has stepped up its backing of the NMCA this year and will now have classes at all NMCA events in 2020.
“The added elements to the six NMCA events is the inclusion of the Chevrolet Performance Challenge Series that features two index classes, Proform LSX Rumble and LME LSX Street King, plus Chevrolet Performance Stock. Every NMCA event also features the Chevrolet Performance Street Car Challenge that includes FREE entry for the first 75 vehicles to sign-up. The LSX Shootout returns in 2020 and will be run at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway and it will have the special LS/LT-based heads-up class, Brian Tooley Real Street,” Galimi says.
If you love your modern HEMI-powered vehicle the NMCA has something for you, too. There will be opportunities at all NMCA races for HEMI owners to get in on the racing action at a national event.
“The Dodge // MOPAR HEMI Shootout is once again part of every single NMCA event with an expanded program that allows up 100 free entries in 2020 due to its popularity. The competitors make three runs on Saturday and are ranked by average elapsed time, with awards from Overall Winner and every elapsed time zone from 9.00 up to 15.00,” Galimi explains.
