It takes a different kind of person to want to pilot a fuel altered, and Ryan Hill fits that mold perfectly. Ryan wheels the “Nitro Bandito” Fuel Altered and lives for the thrill that comes from wrestling one of these nitro-fed animals down the track.
Ryan cut his teeth driving a Top Sportsman car and eventually transitioned to running Pro Modified. The nitro bug bit Ryan hard after his father, Dave, let him wheel the family’s nostalgia nitro Funny Car, “Mad Max.” A fuel altered fell into Ryan’s lap for a great price, and that’s how the Nitro Bandito was born.

The Hill Family Racing organization runs on the help of family and friends. They barnstorm across the country, having fun and putting on a show for fans at numerous events each year. Ryan’s wife, Shannon, who is known to fans as “Mad Maxine,” has become an important part of the team and nitro racing family.
On this episode of The Dragzine Podcast, we talk with Ryan about how he got into racing, what it’s like driving a Fuel Altered, and how important it is to race as a family. You can download The Dragzine Podcast here on Podbean or listen on Apple Podcasts.
