There’s no magic involved if you want to make a race car go faster and turn on a lot of win lights — you just have to continually work at improving your program. Ultra Street racer Brian Keep has been grinding away in 2019 to unlock all the power he can from his ProCharger-boosted 1998 Camaro, and his hustle has paid off. Keep is heading to the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals Jet Jam Night Of Fire ready to have fun and go fast at Bradenton Motorsports Park.
The 2019 season has been very good to Keep and his team in the Ultra Street ranks. In 2019 Keep finished second in the Ultra Street season points just like he did in 2018 thanks to a string of final round appearances and wins.
“This season has gone really well overall for our program, we ended up second behind Joel Greathouse in the Ultra Street championship for the year. I won Ultra Street at No Mercy 10, the Outlaw Drag Racing Championships at Bradenton, and went to the finals at the World Street Nationals. It would have been three in a row at Orlando, but we had a fluid issue at the track with the transmission. I think we’ve been to five or six finals this season and won three of them so I can’t complain at all about our season,” Keep says.
The Snowbird Outlaw Nationals comes at a perfect time for Keep and his HRE Race Engines-powered Camaro. With the current winning streak he’s riding, Keep plans on using the momentum to learn even more at the race that will hopefully catapult him to an Ultra Street series title next season.
“Going into Snowbirds we’re on a good run of positive results where things have started coming together between the chassis, tuning, and my driving. We found some things in the suspension that have helped, plus solving this one issue with the transmission should bring it all together nicely. It would be great to end the season with a win and a record. This is the last race of the year so it’s all about fun — there are no points on the line, and the track will be killer, since Jimmy Bradshaw is coming in to do the prep work,” Keep explains.
If you ask Keep, the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals is more than just a race…it’s a way to have a great time at the track with friends and family. That fun atmosphere is what makes the event a must-attend for Keep.
“The best part about the Snowbirds is the show and the number of spectators that come out. You can race your class and then go take a seat in the stands to watch the Pro Mods. The Night Of Fire is just awesome to check out, the kids love it and there’s a lot of jet-powered vehicles that come to race. The kids also like coming up to us drivers to talk. It’s a great way to end the season and its fun to be part of one of the biggest shows at the track. We have a lot of family that comes in and we do a cookout so it’s just a good time,” Keep says.
