Bryan Markiewicz Ready to Enter N/T and Pro275 Scene with 1970 Nova

In the world of outlaw radial tire racing, Bryan Markiewicz has made his mark, but instead of leisurely riding his wave of success already earned, Markiewicz is continuing to push the boundary and diversify himself as a competitor. The longtime racer based out of Seminole, Florida has been active within the outlaw racing scene for over 20 years, having competed in the early Outlaw 10.5 days as a pacesetter in the ORSCA series. Markiewicz is now a seasoned Radial vs. the World frontrunner and multi-event winner, including “Battle of the Thrones”, and most recently, the 2023 FuelTech Radial Outlaws Racing Series champion.

With the no-time (N/T) racing scene being as hot as ever, Markiewicz has ventured out to build this stunning 1970 Chevy Nova with plans to run N/T events and then move on to Pro 275. Cameron Johnson Race Cars, based out of Lakeland, Florida built the car from the ground up. Equipped with ultra-lightweight components, the plum-colored Nova boasts a steel body, roof, quarter panels, and even door handles that make it appear as if it just rolled out of the factory. “I’ve always liked the old-school look,” Markiewicz says.

Once built, the car went into one of the industry’s most creative hands, Jerron Settles of Imagine That Customs, who added a variety of minuscule details to make the front bumper look identical to a true chrome finish. The features that were added to the paintwork are astounding, and the closer one looks, the more finely airbrushed details are unveiled. Under the hood lies a Pro Line Racing 595 cubic inch ProCharged Hemi, equipped with a M&M transmission and torque converter and fitted with, of course, 275 drag radial tires.

Markiewicz is looking to debut his new ride at Bradenton Motorsports Park for the U.S. Street Nationals, January 25-28, 2024. The plan for the 2024 season is to run as many N/T events close to home as possible with the 1970 Nova and then add some Pro 275 events into the mix. Rest assured, the reigning champ will be returning to defend his coveted Radial vs. the World title. Markiewicz will run the entire Radial Outlaw Racing Series schedule with his 1969 Camaro, which begins at Lights Out 15, February 22-25 at South Georgia Motorsports Park. “Running no-time will be new to me, but I think it will be exciting,” Markiewicz says. “I won’t run two cars though … just one car at a time at each race.”

There couldn’t be a better time for Bryan Markiewicz and his team to get their feet wet in the N/T scene. The class has gained a lot of momentum and attention in the last few years.
