David Schwarz shows off the exhaust of the future

When we found this photo posted at Yellow Bullet, our first though was this fella’ must have entirely too much free time on his hands.  What we have here is David Schwarz’s Wild Street 1988 Ford Mustang with a massive exhaust stack attached to his 98mm Turbonetics hair dryer that’s not only poking through the hood, but appears to stand above the roof of the car as well.

If a race track is ever inundated with water, we think David might just be a shoe-in for a little side racing with that stack that looks very reminiscent of the Jeeps that compete at the Swamp Buggy Races down in Naples, FL.  Also kind of resembles those monstrous 18-wheeler pipes that some people feel the need to put on their measly little diesel pickup trucks.

We’re pretty sure that this a joke and David’s not-so-sneaky little way of poking fun at all of the small tire cars that seem to be growing horns out of the hoods and fenders these days.  Interestingly though, as ridiculous as it looks, if the forces of the wind didn’t put stress on it and snap it right off, it could probably work.

Chris Taylor recently wrote a piece here on DRAGZINE about the bull horn exhaust fad, and in talking with several of the racers, came to the conclusion that it does indeed work as advertised.  And Schwarz’s machine wouldn’t be the first one we’ve seen with the exhaust exiting through the hood.
