Doug Sikora Clicks Off Unreal 6.17 At 230 MPH On 10.5’s At NMCA West

Just a couple of days ago we told you all about Doug Sikora‘s awesome start to the season in his gorgeous 2003 ProCharged Outlaw 10.5 Mustang. Well, it looks like Mr. Sikora has done it again. Saturday, April 6th, at the NMCA West race at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, California, he reset his own record for the quickest eighth-mile time ever recorded by a centrifugal-supercharged car in history during the qualifying rounds, competing against true Pro Mods in the NMCA Pro Street class.

sikoraSikora ran through the eighth-mile blocks with an amazing 4.065 at 190 mph, bettering his own world record previous best by over a tenth of a second and a whopping 13 miles per hour. That’s not all, though – NMCA West runs a full quarter-mile hit in their Pro Street class, and Doug crushed the quarter-mile NMCA record, galloping out the back door with an astounding 6.17 at 230 mph.

We spoke with him on Sunday afternoon, and he explained, “I actually spent the weekend testing in the NMCA West’s Pro Street class since they don’t have Super Street in the NMCA West rules. The car was 2,700 pounds, completely Super Street legal – we were just testing on a prepped track as it was the first time we’ve been able to get to one since the PSCA Record-Breaker Nationals.”

Doug’s ’03 Mustang relies on a killer Brad Anderson Engineering -8 HEMI engine and the new ProCharger F-3R 136 supercharger, the same one Steve Jackson was setting records with before he parted with his Mustang. Up until recently the car had only been in the 6.30’s, but he just put the entire world on notice with this most recent pass – the quickest 10.5 pass in history to our knowledge.

It’s even more amazing when you realize that his Mustang relies on an RJ Race Cars 3/4 chassis built by Sikora himself in his spare time and still incorporates a real chromoly K-member to go with the factory-style front suspension – not the high-buck stuff you typically see on a car of this caliber. Sikora credits the engine building skills of Jason Pettis, along with the help he gets from Bob Remillard, Part Time Performance, and the rest of his sponsors, on the amazing achievement. And it’s only April…
