Flyover Video: The All-New Galot Motorsports Nears Completion

It can be a scary thing for a racing community to hear that their local track’s future is up in the air, or that itss been sold to a new owner; but that’s not the case for the racers in North Carolina. The long-standing track previously known as Dunn-Benson Dragstrip was for sale a couple of years ago, but instead of being sold off and turned into a shopping complex like so many other tracks, it got a serious upgrade. The rechristened facility will be known as Galot Motorsports Park, and it will be a state-of-the-art racers facility with big plans for the future. Galot 2

In 2013, Earl Wells purchased the Dunn-Benson track with the intentions of making it a top-tier track for all to enjoy. Wells is the owner of the wildly successful Galot Motorsports teams that compete in Pro Modified drag racing, and the in tractor pulling world.  For Wells, its only natural to create a facility that will have both a top notch drag strip and a tractor pulling arena so the Galot team can go testing whenever they choose.

The moderation of this facility will allow for the racers and fans to have a great experience every time they visit the track. For the drag racers, the list of improvements will include a brand new timing system, a new concrete racing surface and concrete walls the full length of the track. The old timing tower was demolished and a new tower that features suites and other amenities has been constructed. There will even be storage units for rent if racers want to keep their car or gear on-site at the track.Galot 1

For the spectators, the grandstands have been updated to new units with chair-back seating, while new restrooms and a new concession stand have been added. Check out this drone flyover video that highlights many of the new improvements to the track. Cars will be hitting the strip at the end of March and, based on the schedule, it looks like there will be something for everyone at Galot Motorsports Park in 2016.
