Game Changer: ProTorque’s New Rebellion Series Torque Converter

Joe Rivera and the team at ProTorque have always pushed torque converter technology to new heights through exhausting levels of research and development. The ProTorque braintrust has gained an immense amount of knowledge by doing this and applies it to every product in its lineup. ProTorque’s new Rebellion Series torque converters are the latest application of that knowledge, and they’re designed to bring high-tech converter magic to the masses in drag racing.

Boninfante Friction and ProTorque partnered up early in 2020, and that armed the converter company with a new set of weapons with which to create products. The COVID pandemic gave ProTorque time to work on new projects like the value-priced Rebellion Series torque converter using the technology that Boninfante Friction possesses.

“Basically, we’re going to put the best product in the hands of people who have always wanted a ProTorque converter, but felt they couldn’t afford it, and getting them a bolt-together at only slightly more than our competitor’s weld together price. A bolt-together converter at weld-together prices born from Top Fuel technologies, with features that have been tested and proven in 5,000 horsepower applications; that’s unheard of, and that’s against the norm, hence why we named this the Rebellion Series,” Rivera explains.

The Rebellion Series torque converters are packed with the same technology found in the EV1 and U9 units from ProTorque. The Rebellion Series converters are rated up to 1,500 horsepower and feature a billet aluminum back cover, D-bolt technology, six mounting pads with replaceable keen serts, a spragless design, multiple stator options, anti-ballooning plates, and many other upgrade options.

“Innovation is taking two things that exist and putting them together in a new way, and that is exactly what I am doing here with the Rebellion Series. We have learned a lot over the last 35 years and we know what works and what doesn’t, so it’s time to bring that experience to as many people as we can,” Rivera says.

Pricing for the Rebellion Series torque converters will start in the $1,700 range based on the options a racer selects. The converters will be ready for shipping in early 2021 and you can learn more about them right here on the ProTorque website.
