The Santa Pod Racers Club (SPRC) held their Summernationals meet at Santa Pod Raceway and it provided racing action that was just as hot as the weather. With multiple classes running, and plenty of points up for grabs, every racer rolled into the water box ready to do whatever it took to pick up a round win.
What makes the SPRC so cool is the wide variety of cars and classes that run at their events. These races have a true national event feel with heads-up Pro Mod racing, bracket racing, NHRA-style class racing, and lots of motorcycle racing, as well. Racers in Europe have fully embraced the old track saying of “get in where you fit in” to the highest level, and it provides a diverse competition environment for all.
The heat was on at Santa Pod Raceway during the Summernationals with temperatures reaching highs in the 80s — not something that’s seen often in the UK. Blistering heat didn’t stop the fans and racers from piling into Santa Pod Raceway to get their fill of racing action, with a full day of testing, followed by qualifying and eliminations.
During the Summernationals several racers were able to beat the heat to secure national records in several of the bike classes, along with Collin Millar resetting both ends of the Outlaw Anglia records. The biggest record to be broken during the event came courtesy of Andy Robinson in the Pro Modified class. Robinson became the first driver in the category to break into the 5.80s with a stellar 5.867 pass.
