Madman On The Loose! Frankie Taylor Is Coming To The OSCR VI To Win

You’d be hard pressed to find a tougher competitor in the Pro Modified world than Frankie Taylor. Taylor has been racing with the Mid-West Pro Mod Series (MWPMS) frequently over the past two seasons and been his usual successful self. In 2019, Taylor wants to make a push for the series title and plans on running strong at the Outlaw Street Car Reunion VI to help bolster his championship hopes.

Taylor spent a lot of time in 2018 racing overseas in Australia, but when he was stateside you could find him at an MWPMS event, even going some rounds during the prestigious Elite 16 event. To kick off 2019 Taylor picked up the victory at the first MWPMS event in Texas and he’s ready to roll into Beech Bend Raceway Park to continue the momentum during the Outlaw Street Car Reunion.

“We didn’t race in Bowling Green last year so I’m looking forward to coming to the event this year. To do well in this series is tough. The new blower pulley rule is throwing us for a bit of a loop so we’re trying to get that figured out. We had to put more pop in the cylinders to get it to run good based on the rules. We were trying different a camshaft and some other stuff to help the car down low and we eventually figured it out during eliminations,” Taylor explains.

Even after ending up in the winner’s circle at the first MWPMS race Taylor wasn’t happy and knows it will take more to win at the Outlaw Street Car Reunion. Knowing that he will have to step up his performance Taylor has a plan in place to make it happen in Bowling Green.

“The big thing we want to do is make the car more consistent in qualifying. We were having a hard time to get the car to leave as hard as we wanted to — it was a power management issue down low but I think we will get it figured out. It will take high 3.60s to low 70s to win I think. The weather and air should be good so I think you’re going to see a few high 3.60s at this event. You’re going to have to run fast and be good on the tree if you want to win,” Taylor says.

Taylor really wants to come out of the Outlaw Street Car Reunion still leading the points because he knows how tight the racing is. There are a wide variety of cars and combinations in the MWPMS and that keeps things interesting for veterans like Taylor.

Making it to the Outlaw Street Car Reunion for Taylor is being made possible by some great sponsors.

“Renegade Fuels, Larry Jeffers Pro Cars, Benjie Lap Snap-On Tools, and Andrew Alepa have helped out a lot to keep us going. We appreciate what Keith Haney and the MWPMS have done to keep racing going. Of course, I also have to thank my wife for letting me go out racing as well,” Taylor says.

Frankie Taylor and the rest of the Mid-West Pro Mod Series racers will be on the track at Beech Bend Raceway April 11-13 during the Outlaw Street Car Reunion VI. All of the racing will be broadcast live RIGHT HERE on SpeedVideo. This live feed is made possible by presenting sponsor COMP Cams along with Edelbrock, Classic Instruments, Billet Atomizer Injectors, ProCharger, SCT, LME, Race Winning Brands, and Competition Products.
