Making Moves: Craig Sullivan Is Ready For A Big 2019 Season

Pro Mod racing is a diverse class in power adders and body styles where each are taken to a pretty big extreme. Craig Sullivan’s 1970 Dodge Daytona Superbird Pro Mod known as the “Barn Burner” made a big splash at PRI when it was unveiled a few years ago and it added some extreme spice to the class. Now in 2019, Sullivan is ready to make some big performance improvements and have a stellar showing at the U.S. Street Nationals this month.

Since bringing out the Barn Burner, Sullivan has been working on refining his program more and has been experiencing expanded success each year. The Vanishing Point Race Cars-built machine has been able to take advantage of the blown DMPE Hemi power that’s controlled by a FuelTech ECU and is backed by an M&M Transmission TH400 transmission.  In 2017, Sullivan secured a sixth-place finish in the NMCA Xtreme Pro Mod class and in 2018 he was able to improve to a fifth-place finish.

After experiencing another year of improvement, Sullivan devised a plan to help his team’s performance grow again in the 2019 season starting at Bradenton Motorsports Park during the US Street Nationals.

“Coming into this year we’ve added some key individuals, like Nick Bacalis, to make sure we continue to improve. The biggest benefit this is going to bring to the table is a better maintenance program for our cars to make sure there are fewer issues on the track. It will also make our race days go much smoother and that’s huge for a Pro Mod team,” Sullivan explains.

Being able to get a handle on the maintenance side of things will allow Sullivan and his team to start exploring what his Dodge is capable of on the track. During 2018 Sullivan was able to improve his personal best runs several times with a 3.83 at 196 mph being his best effort. The team is looking forward to lowering that ET even more early in 2019 with all the offseason improvements that have been made. Coming to an event like the U.S. Street Nationals gives Sullivan the opportunity to get a jump on the season early.

“You enter an event like the U.S. Street Nationals because it has some of the biggest names in Pro Mod on the property. This event is one of the best measures of your program early in the year to see where you stand with these teams. We see this as an opportunity to find where we can improve even more before the season begins,” Sullivan says.

The U.S. Street Nationals is coming to Bradenton Motorsports Park January 24-27 and it will feature heads-up racers from every corner of the United States. You won’t want to miss the fastest big tire and small tire racers locking horns in the Florida sun and you won’t have to since SpeedVideo.com will have all the action RIGHT HERE. This broadcast is brought to you by presenting sponsor ProCharger along with, TCI, Lithium Pros, ATI Performance Products, FuelTech, COMP Cams, Flying A Motorsports, Race Star Industries, and WELD Racing.
