The annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas on November 2-5 is right around the corner, and the folks at Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels have several exciting new product announcements and displays on tap for show, where they will showcase an all-new, 2.500 square foot booth, number 43021, which will be located on the main aisle near the front entrance of the south Hall, Lower Level. The Mickey Thompson booth will feature a video monitor with a dedicated DVD player at each of the four corners of the booth displaying recent coverage from Spike TV, Powerblock and Extreme 4×4.

The booth will feature three display vehicles, one of which will be the restored Pisano/Matsubara Tribute 1974 Chevy Vega Nitro Funny Car. The Vega was built as a tribute to Joe and Carmen Pisano, completed in 2005, making its debut at the 2006 California Hot Rod Reunion. The Vega will sport Mickey Thompson ET Drag tires (Part #3186) on the rear and ET Drag tires (Part #3006) on the front.

“The 1974 Vega Funny Car with the bright yellow paint, flames and the famous Pisano/Matsubara logo will be displayed proudly in the booth this year,” said Ken Warner, VP Sales & Marketing, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels. “The paint was done by ‘Wild Bill’ Carter who used his original notes and color chips from the original Pisano/Matsubara Funny Car to reproduce the paint. If you were at the drag strip when you were a kid, you’ll remember the original car – Lions, Orange County, Irwindale, Famosa and Pomona! It was the time when Floppers became the stars of the show and were awesome to watch. I want to thank Darr Hawthorne and Danny Pisano for making this happen. Get your camera and get over to our booth this year and check it out.”

As well, famed drag racing artist Kenny Youngblood will make a guest appearance on Wednesday 11/3 to sign autographs and custom CARtoons for event attendees.

Several new tire announcements from Mickey Thompson will be made at SEMA, and in addition to a host of new offroad tire offerings, will be a new EZ Street Radial II, a popular street performance radial available in 19-inch and 20-inch sizes for today’s new American Muscle cars.
