New A And G-Body Coilover Shock Offerings From Strange Engineering

Strange Engineering has a robust catalog of coilover shocks for multiple applications. The GM A-body and G-Body platforms are very popular, and Strange has recently made some revisions to its shock offerings for these vehicles. Strange’s new coilover shocks for these platforms offer new valving combinations and refined fitment for numerous A-arms.

These shocks are designed to fit a wide range of Buick, Chevy, GMC, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac vehicles. Each shock has 10 different extension and compression settings that provide plenty of control of the shock’s movement. The shocks feature a bottom T-bar that allows for improved pivoting motion as the shock moves. You can also have custom valving installed in the shocks for your specific application. If that valving doesn’t work, you can send the shocks back to be rebuilt or revalved.

The shock’s adjustments allow users to reduce body roll and enhance how their vehicle handles on the street. If you want to improve performance at the drag strip, these shocks will allow users to soften the extension, or stiffen the compression for better weight transfer.

J.C. Cascio from Strange Engineering explains how the company approached the design of these shocks.

“Strange wanted to create a coil-over system that would be versatile enough to handle street, drag, and road racing applications. Finding the appropriate range of valving combined with the proper rate spring required extensive R&D to find the right combination. The system needed to work with both factory A-arms and popular aftermarket A-arm configurations. Special attention was paid to the lower T-Bar and reinforcing plate to ensure the lower mounting assembly could handle the extra stress.”
