The latest episode of the popular NHRA Nitro Rewind internet-based broadcast has hit the digital airwaves, supplying a look back at the exciting, upset-filled, and blazing hot mid-summer action of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals from the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.
Along with taking us on a guided look in the rearview mirror at the Chicago event, host Bill Stephens looks ahead to the upcoming Mopar Parts Mile-High Nationals in Denver that kicks off the annual Western Swing, and also discusses his media training and the various drivers who have been a part of it.
In this episode, we’ll hear from Chicago Funny Car winner Mike Neff as he shares his thoughts on garnering the 200th win for Ford, along with the crewmen who make it all happen, including Bernie Fedderly, Jon Scahffer, and Dan Hood. Fellow John Force Racing stablemate and reigning Denver champ Robert Hight also chats about his win there last season and how he feels he can win any race with the car he’s got now. Also, veteran Funny Car pilot Dale Creasy Jr. tells us about what it’s like racing against the big guns for a team with small resources on a part-time schedule.
On the Top Fuel side of the coin, the always entertaining Antron Brown also receives some camera time discusses his Western Swing sweep back in 2009 and the difficulties that teams face in capturing that very challenging and tiring feat.
New episodes of NHRA Nitro Rewind are released on the Thursday following each national event, and are available – along with all previous episodes – on the NHRA’s Youtube channel.
