PDRA Bringing Pro Mod Show To Virginia Motorsports Park

The PDRA is making final preparations for the second event of its 2019 season, as the Mid-Atlantic Showdown is coming to Virginia Motorsports Park — and it’s bringing the PDRA’s new format for this year that’s designed to make the raceday better for fans and racers.

For the 2019 season, the PDRA rolled out its Friday Night Fire and Saturday Main Event programs to add an element of predictability to its racing program. At the season opener at GALOT, Mother Nature got in the way of the new format being fully implemented, but the back-to-back-to-back Pro Nitrous world records showed what kind of excitement it could provide to fans.

Tommy Franklin thinks this new format will really shine at the Mid-Atlantic Showdown as it will allow fans to see all the action they can handle based on what they want to see.

“This new show format gives the fans a better experience where they will want to come back and see more racing with us. One of the things we noticed is that it was hard to determine when you needed to be at the track to see the classes you wanted to see. What we tried to do is lay the schedule out so you know what’s on the track and when. It gives the spectator who’s looking for three to five hours of entertainment what they want and still let the diehard fans see racing all day.”

The new format offers a lot to the fans but it has also been implemented to help the racers. Instead of long random gaps of time between runs, they now know when they will run and how much time they will have between sessions. This will help both the pro and sportsman racers experience more consistent conditions when they race.

Looking back at the East Coast Nationals, you can see that PDRA racers in the Pro and Sportsman classes have stepped up their game for the new season. That high level of competition is going to make the Mid-Atlantic Showdown a very interesting and entertaining event.

“Fans are going to see some of the fastest Pro Mods on earth all in one place. The weather is looking good with temperatures in the 60s at night and that’s prime-time for big numbers. I think you’re going to see records fall and the competition level is going to be unreal. In Pro Boost you have multiple power-adders all running at a high level right now and they are evenly matched. In Pro Nitrous we have three or four engine builders all close together and that will make the racing exciting,” Franklin says.

The PDRA is bringing the action to Virginia Motorsports Park May 2-4 with the Mid-Atlantic Showdown. All three days of Pro Mod racing can be seen live on Speedvideo.com RIGHT HERE. This broadcast is brought to you by Driven Racing Oil, Race Star Wheels, Billet Atomizer Injectors, Flying A Motorsports, and Jerry Bickel Race Cars.
