If you’ve been reading DRAGZINE over the course of the last year, you’ve certainly seen our coverage of the inception, progress, and eventual debut of Englishman Andy Frost’s incredible Red Victor 3 Vauxhall VX4/90 Pro Modified doorslammer.

The one-of-a-kind twin turbocharged machine, which readers from around the world followed along in the construction of via several different media outlets and forum updates from Frost himself, was christened in early June at the Santa Pod Raceway, where it recorded a best shakedown lap of 7.50-seconds following a nice 4.70 hit to the eighth-mile. Unfortunately, the weekend Andy and his crew had been looking forward to for months didn’t as they had planned, as seven of the eight exhaust valves in the big block powerplant seized up, causing considerable internal damage.

After a three month hiatus to rebound from the engine woes, the Red Victor team returned once again to Santa Pod for the FIA European Finals, where they hoped for a much better result from their second outing. And a better result they had.

Over the course of the weekend, Frost recorded a best of 7.23-seconds on the only full quarter-mile hit the car has seen thus far, launching in second gear with 13 degrees of timings and a 4.0 air/fuel ratio as they gradually inch up on their rather conservative baseline tuneup.

Said Andy, “there’s still a huge amount left in the car. Thank you all for your support in this difficult year we’ve had. The future definitely looks bright for next year.”
