Reduce Transmission Case Heat With This Transmission Cooling Pad

Heat can negatively impact all areas of a race car, including the transmission. A transmission filled with hot fluid isn’t going to perform the same as a transmission with cool fluid. While external transmission chillers help, they don’t reduce the temperature of the transmission case. The Cool Racing Parts Transmission Cooling Pad will help reduce the temperature of any transmission case.

As a transmission does its job, hot fluid flows through it and the torque converter. This really drives up the temperature of the case and will cause it to retain heat, thus keeping the fluid warm as well. A transmission cooler and external chiller are only able to do so much, and don’t really help stop the transmission case from being a giant heat sink.

Cool Racing Parts cooling pads have already shown their ability to drastically reduce the temperature of hot parts. You can see the results from a track test we did here. Ken Collins from Cool Racing Parts explains how the idea for the Transmission Cooling Pad came about.

“We had some friends that bracket raced and they always complained about heat soak issues with their transmissions. They were looking for a way to cool down the transmission fast in between rounds, especially when they were in a hot lapping situation. We were making rehab cooling products for the athletic sports market, so we had an idea let’s design a transmission cooling blanket for them to try using that technology. The blanket worked flawlessly and lowered transmission temperatures.”

Collins went on to explain that racers are actually using a pair of cooling pads in a rotation to pull heat from the case. This allows the cooling process to be sped up significantly with a fresh pad. Teams using the Transmission Cooling Pad have seen case temperatures drop by 100 degrees Fahrenheit in a short period of time.
