Rig Of The Month: Flying A 34-Foot Pro Stock Trailer From Vintage

As the official trailer/motorcoach dealer of Dragzine, Flying A Motorsports’ extensive lineup of new and used motorhomes, toterhomes, racecar trailers, stacker trailers, car haulers, and cargo trailers are highlighted here in our monthly Rig of the Month feature.

Flying A Motorsports offers a large array of trailer brands ranging from the cost-effective to those with high-end features. This month, the Flying A representatives illustrate the Vintage Trailers Ltd line of products as another choice from their acres of rolling stock in Cuba, Missouri.

“I like the Vintage trailer line because it is super predictable,” Randy Cape, Sales Representative at Flying A tells us. “They are a nice upper to mid-upper level trailer that is very predictable in quality. We have been selling trailers since 1988, and they have been with us for a very long time.”

Randy has put together this custom-ordered 34-foot “Pro Stock” 2019 model trailer from Vintage. With the doorslammer competitor in mind, the floorplan is designed to fit a racecar and golf cart. It also features a full bathroom fitted within the dual workbench area. This bath area is approximately 60-inches by 60-inches with an angled entry door to still offer good floor space within the 102-inch wide trailer.

A full bathroom takes up a small footprint of the floorplan with work surfaces surrounding both sides of the shower, toilet, and vanity sink enclosure.

“There are two work surfaces on each side of the bath area, both with upper and lower cabinets,” Cape describes. “The 36-inch by 30-inch vented generator area is located inside the lower cabinet between the bath and axle area. This is also where the water heater for the bath is located. Customers are always impressed with the Vintage aluminum cabinetry. It is good quality.”

With a 34-foot overall length, the design still offers 21-feet, 10-inches of floor space between the closed ramp door and the base cabinet. Grab your tape measure and start calculating because your average hot rod and golf cart will fit quite nicely. The interior also features .030-inch aluminum walls with 34-inch tall carpet that lines the length of the inside of the trailer. There is black coin rubber flooring and an aluminum tread plate ramp door.

This floor plan offers 21-feet, 10-inches from the ramp door to base cabinet. Snuggling a golf cart and door car into this design is exactly the design concept Alan and Randy Cape wanted to showcase.

On the outside, this trailer is equipped with a 5-foot extended tongue option, triple axle design with aluminum wheels and electric brakes on all axles. There is a white screwless .040-inch thick aluminum exterior and a one-piece aluminum roof. Getting in and out is made easier by a 48-inch extended side door.

The rear ramp door area is well lit for night loading. Randy Cape custom specifies a 50-inch LED light bar mounted at the ramp door overhang, a very popular feature with their customers. “LED light technology is pretty much used everywhere other than really basic economy trailers,” Says Cape. “This unit had great LED lighting above the workbenches, along with the interior ceiling and outside of the trailer to amply light up your pit area.”

Many of the features listed on this "Pro Stock" model are part of the Vintage Trailers option list. Others like the oversized LED light bar mounted over the loading ramp are custom specifications from Flying A.

Above and beyond a typical tag trailer, the 50-amp electrical service supplies many electrical outlets and a 15.0 BTU air conditioning unit controlled by a thermostat. To keep things cooler on the outside, there is a 24-foot awning that extends from the rear of the trailer up to the side entry door.

The bathroom offers a sink, vanity, toilet and shower supported by a 51-gallon fresh water tank, water heater, 60-gallon gray water tank, and 30-gallon black water storage. If you like to sing in the shower on race day (or at least listen for your class to be called), an AM/FM/CD player is located in the work area that powers speakers located in the interior and the exterior.

Coming from Flying A Motorsports, a company staffed by many racers and rodders, it is great to learn about the custom specifications offered from many different trailer lines. Their cool option lists fit the bill for many enthusiasts looking to transport their toys with trailers outfitted with unique lighting, layout and other amenities.

The race-oriented staff at Flying A Motorsports designs many models they stock keeping the racer in mind. Features like the extended 5-foot hitch tongue and ample LED lighting are definitely on a racer's wish list.

Randy Cape finishes, “Even if you don’t see “your perfect trailer,” remember that things like winches, tie-down rings, and specific lighting are options we can install right here in our service center. These options can vary by customer needs, so we like to install those options exactly how the customer wants them.”
