When you decide to add a set of high-flowing heads to your engine program to make big power, you’d better be ready to step up your valvetrain game. The Frankenstein F710 S cylinder heads for the LS engine are a true powerhouse, and T&D Machine Products now has a set of shaft-mount roller rocker arms that will bolt directly onto these heads.
Rocker arms that are used in high-horsepower applications really need to have the best oiling system possible to ensure they can do their job. T&D designed its rocker arms to be internally oiled so the bearings would see actual engine oil pressure, thus improving the bearing’s life significantly. Speaking of the bearings, T&D uses a caged bearing in the rocker arms for the F710 S cylinder heads. These bearings don’t have a shell that will start to open up and cause the bearing needles to move.
Phil Elliot from T&D explains some of the other features the company implemented into these rocker arms to make them a perfect fit for the F710 S heads.
“As an option, T&D also offers spring oilers that use a minuscule 0.040-inch hole that sprays oil on the valve spring as the rocker arm goes through its range of motion. The oil provided to this orifice is sourced from the same internal oil gallery that lubricates the bearings. We offer the larger adjusters and jam nuts because both feature more clamping power than smaller alternatives, meaning that together, they will maintain lash adjustment settings far more consistently. As an added benefit, those dimensionally larger parts don’t round off so easily, saving on busted knuckles and other injuries.”
