Track Ready: How Specialty Tools Can Help On Race Day

Being prepared when you go the track is one way to help you win when eliminations start, but a heightened level of readiness can also save the day if your car needs to be repaired. To facilitate the correct repairs on your car, having the proper tools is a must, as most racers know. Bringing a variety of specialty tools to the track may seem like overkill, but it could be the difference between making it to the staging lanes, or going home if things go south on raceday.

Every tool that you own has two purposes, the one it’s designed for, and the one you might need to use it for. You can use a tool in an alternative way at times, but having a tool for a specific job has the advantage of making sure it’s done right. Being able to make the correct repair trackside will not only keep your race day going in a pinch, it will also keep you safe because a simple leak can lead to disaster in a hurry if it’s not addressed appropriately.

Richard Raczuk and his company Koul Tools produce different specialty tools that do everything from assisting with assembling AN fittings, to helping fix a fitting on a part. Through years of experience, he understands what a racer needs and why it’s so important to fix something correctly with the right tool.

“Having the right tool to do the job is like an insurance policy, you pay for it and hope you don’t have to use it, but if you need it, the tool is there to fix the issue. It can make the difference between doing the job right and safely, versus doing something incorrectly and still having a problem.

For example, our fitting fixture is something that can really help to make sure a problem is fixed correctly. Before if you had some type of bung welded to a part like a radiator or other fluid system and it was damaged it has to be thrown away. If this happens at the track you could have serious issues if a sealing surface is damaged on a fitting and don’t have a way to fix it. Having our fitting fixture kit would make sure you could fix the issue and keep racing that day.”

Every racer loves to carry spare parts when they can, but you won’t always have a spare for everything that can break on a car. By having specialty tools like the Koul Tools fitting fixture in your trailer you can fix a problem right the first time and race safely knowing you won’t have issues on the track.
