Sao Palo, Brazil native Peterson Fuser drives what could be one of the coolest and most insane Volkswagen Beetles you’ll ever see. Fuser’s VW has pretty well everything we love in a race car: small tires, loads of billet, some carbon fiber, and a giant turbocharger. This nasty Bug with Fuser behind the wheel recently reset the air-cooled VW rear-mounted engine record by ripping off a low seven-second pass with the assistance of FuelTech products.

Don’t let the idea of seven-second VW Bug conjure up images of a rattle-trap car that isn’t safe making passes at the track — Fuser’s machine is as legit as any small-tire car here in the states. The tube chassis rocket was fabricated by Fuser himself and sports a trick carbon fiber late-model Beetle body. Powering it is a custom billet engine block that is a whopping three-liters in size, and spins to over 8,600 rpm. Providing boost is a big 98 mm Precision Pro Mod turbo that helps the tiny motor create an estimated 1,700 horsepower.

What helps this car fly down the track is a sequential Mendeola S5 gearbox with a billet housing. To aid with the gear changes a FuelTech gear controller cuts the engine every time Fuser bangs a shift, so he can keep his foot planted to the floor. A FuelTech FT500 provides all of the engine management needs for everything else in the VW.
