Over the last decade and a half, Sport Compact drag racing has come and gone and then come back again, and along the way, it’s advent has created an inner struggle between the faithful factions of foreign and domestic racers. But thanks to the impressive performances of racers like Gary White and the Titan Motorsports team in the ADRL and a host of other competitors, Sport Compact racing has gained widespread acceptance from drag racing fans who have come to recognize them as legitimate hardcore racers and not obnoxious youths with fart cans and oversized wings.

Because honestly, how are you going to argue with mid six-second elapsed times from doorslammers with two or even four cylinders less than their domestic counterparts? Whether you bleed blue or plan to wear a bowtie ’til you die, that’s impressive.

Back in August, we got our first look at the state-of-the-art Toyota Supra of Bahrain native Ebrahim Kanoo, which was built in Florida by the Titan Motorsports team. Kanoo is Bahrain’s major importer of Toyota and Lexus vehicles and a hardcore drag racer and all-around car guy, and commissioned Titan to construct the baddest drag Supra ever built, with virtually no expense spared. Dressed in carbon fiber and all the latest chassis tricks, this ride is enough to make any car buff salivate.

This week, with White at the controls and noted tuner Shane Tecklenburg and Eric Luzinsky calling the shots, Kanoo’s turbocharged, 2JZ-powered mount rolled to the quickest pass ever recorded by a Toyota Supra – 6.46 seconds at 215.9 MPH – while testing at the Bahrain International Circuit.
