The name Arfons is considered synonymous with anything jet-powered in the racing world. Art Arfons set records in the land speed world with jet power and was a pioneer in jet car racing with his original Green Monster.  And now, his son, Tim Arfons, carries on the family tradition, most recently with Green Monster 19, which he debuted last year at Quaker City Motorsports Park.

Arfons has had Jet-A pumping in his veins since he was old enough to walk. Having strapped a jet engine to just about anything including a four wheeler and a personal watercraft, Arfons’ dedication to the howl of turbine power is apparent. Even the family business revolves around jet engines as they supply track drying equipment for most major tracks and racing sanctioning bodies.

The latest Green Monster reared it’s head again at the recent Nostalgia Classic, held at Quaker City Motorsports Park in Salem Ohio. In the car’s debut last year, Arfons had a GoPro on the top of the chassis that showed just how wild this dragster is.  This video from Drag Strip Riot captures the full seven-second pass along with the insane show flame the dragster can put out.  Imagine how wicked this flame will look at night!
