Running an Outlaw 10.5 car out the back door for a full 1/4-mile can be a hairy experience, but doing it in a car that has aerodynamic (and ride height) challenges makes it even more interesting. Australian racer Danny Makdessi’s Chrysler VC Valiant isn’t as slick in the air as a modern muscle car, but makes up for it with brute force. This classic muscle car makes crazy power that allows it to lay down six-second passes and look dead-sexy doing it.
The Australian Valiant VC was first released in 1966 as a variation of the classic Valiant from Chrysler. There were all kinds of different models available, including a sedan, Safari wagon, and even a utility version with a bed. From the factory, you could get up to a 273 cubic-inch V8 backed by an automatic transmission — a far cry from the wild powerplant in Makdessi’s ride.
To run at the front of the Outlaw 10.5 pack in the ‘land down under’, Makdessi went big under the hood with 521 cubic-inches of angry supercharged Hemi power.
Don’t let the deep magenta paint fool you into thinking this car is just all looks, it has run deep into the 6.50 zone at over 211 mph. In this video from Fast Performance Videos you get to see Makdessi putting some laps in running in the 6.70s at 208 mph. Not bad for a car that has the aerodynamic profile of a brick and a blower hat that sits even with the roof line!
