K&N Announces 2012 Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes

[1]As part of the annual NHRA K&N [2] Horsepower Challenge, held July 6-8 at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, Oh., fans will once again have the opportunity to not only play a role in who competes in the lucrative special event-within-an-event, but one lucky fan will again drive away a winner in a 2012 “K&N Horsepower Challenge Edition” Toyota Tundra pickup.

As in years past, the first seven positions in the K&N Horsepower Challenge will be seeded by points earned at NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series events since the Norwalk event last season. The eighth and final spot will then be determined by a fan vote by logging on to www.nhra.com/knhpchallenge.aspx [3].

The K&N Horsepower Challenge showcases the best of the the best in the Pro Stock category and awards a cool $50,000 to the winner, with the runner-up earning $10,000, $3,000 to the semifinalists, and $2,500 to each of the four first-round losers.

“K&N is so proud of the Horsepower Challenge and all the Pro-Stock drivers,” said Steve Williams, vice president, K&N Filters. “The competition is so close, that it’s not unusual to see races won by just a few thousandths of a second. We are really excited about the custom truck one lucky fan will win this year and we will be releasing exclusive pictures of the truck on knfilters.com very soon.”

Last year, Greg Anderson drove his Summit Racing Equipment Pontiac to his second consecutive K&N Horsepower Challenge and the fourth of his career when he defeated Mike Edwards in the final round.

By entering the K&N Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes [5], NHRA fans will have the chance to vote their favorite driver into the final position in the field and potentially a chance to become one of the eight fans to be a part of the K&N Horsepower Challenge. Those eight winners will receive airfare, hotel accommodations, and ground transportation to witness the event live and compete alongside a randomly selected driver in the eight-car Pro Stock field. The lucky winner paired with the K&N Horsepower Challenge winner will get the keys to the 2012 “K&N Horsepower Challenge Edition” V-8 Double Cab Toyota Tundra, specially built by Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and K&N Filters for this event with modifications including a supercharger, custom wheels, and exhaust, along with a number of other touches.

No purchase is necessary to enter the K&N Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes, which ends June 4 at 3 p.m. PT. Entrants must be 18 years or older to enter and sweepstakes are subject to full official rules, which can be found at www.knfilters.com.
