ProCharger Powers Pecchini And Goss Past Lofty Barriers

At last weekend’s radial extravaganza, Lights Out 7, there were countless personal bests for the racers in attendance. Among those, a couple made a little extra noise – pun intended, for those within earshot of these machines – by paving the way into some impressive ET ranges for ProCharge cars.

PC-2In the tightly-policed X275 class, Rob Goss wheeled his ProCharger-motivated Dodge Challenger into the No. 1 qualifying spot with a career best 4.39-second blast. Goss’ Challenger, which proudly boasts a factory Mopar block as the basis for the BES-built 404 cubic-inch powerplant, became just the third X275 car in the 4.30s and cemented its spot as the quickest ProCharged X275 car in the world.

Goss relies on a Chassisworks gear drive to keep the F1-X spinning happily out in front of his sinister black hot rod, while a Coan converter and ATF Powerglide send the power rearward. Out back, TRZ suspension parts keep the sticky 275 radials planted.

In the wild-west shootout that is Radial vs the World, ProCharged cars are the exception, but don’t tell Enzo Pecchini that. He made the long haul from Ontario, Canada to South Georgia Motorsports Park with his slick black F3-136-equipped Fox Body and ripped off the first-ever 3-second pass for a centrifugally-supercharged radial car.

Pecchini, who runs a BAE Hemi maintained by Mark Savage and Pro Mod legend Al Billes, powered to a 3.96 at a blistering 189 mph to qualify No. 8 in the quickest Radial vs the World field in history. Enzo, who does his own tuning, appeared to be on another killer pass in the first round alongside eventual race winner Keith Berry when he lost traction and slapped the wall. Damage to the car was mostly cosmetic, but will require a couple of months of work by Enzo and his son, Mike, to return to action. Look for Pecchini to pick up where he left off, mixing it up with the quickest radial-tired cars on the planet.

In a world that spins on power management, both of these cars likely have more elapsed time left on tap, so look for even more from both of these blown badasses as they further refine their tune to pull every ounce of horsepower from their combinations.
