We see golf carts at every drag strip across the country transporting people and towing or pushing race cars, but what if someone decided to totally hot-rod a club carrier and turn it into a turbocharged monster? Well, Joey Holloway did just that, and his BusaKart is one of the wildest creations we’ve ever seen.
The BusaKart has gone through a few different phases as Holloway has worked to perfect it. There’s plenty of videos out there of this beast doing some crazy stuff on the dyno and on the streets. Holloway uses a Suzuki Hayabusa 1000cc motorcycle engine to power the golf cart, along with a turbocharger, and controls it with a FuelTech ECU. That engine package generates an alleged 600 horsepower, and when you stuff it into a golf cart, it allows Holloway to regularly put bus lengths on cars and motorcycles.
Holloway and the BusaKart showed up at Orlando Speed World Dragway to participate in the Wild Turkey no-prep event; this race utilized the top end of the track as the racing surface, so there was no rubber or prep — a perfect venue for the BusaKart to do its thing. Holloway got plenty of laps in against a variety of vehicles that included a turbocharged Porsche, the Chicken Hawk RX7, and a Hayabusa-powered mini Funny Car.
In this footage from Drag Racing and Car Stuff, we see Holloway take on each of his opponents and pick up a win in every one of them. You can see just how much of a handful the BusaKart is for Holloway, and that it almost has a mind of its own while rocketing down the track.
